I'd never heard that before the game as well and questioned it's validity.

what hard to believe?

its not like most learn much from high school football anyway.

athletic ability > experience for college recruits.

Trindon played a lot at Northeast but took time off for track throughout high school.

First time I had heard that as well. Went with E Monroe to camp and jumped in the drills. Since he wasn't in the camp per say, I'm sure somebody at LSU looked at his body type and said"go for it" when he asked to participate. Very good call in my opinion to the coach or staffer that said that!

Is there a fee for this camp or is this a by invitation so they can get a close up of potential recruits/

Aren't there protocols to follow like parental forms and waivers etc before they are allowed to participate?

Its hard to imagine the coaching staff would just bring a player onto the field because of his body type. He is not exactly a physical phenomenon but is a freakish athlete. Story seems a little bit stretched.

Football more than any other team sport in my opinion relies on pure athletic ability as opposed to the development of specific skills to be great. Obviously not saying football doesn't require skill as it clearly does. However, I think the average 6'4 to 6'8 guy who weighs upwards of 230 lbs and can run and jump would have an easier time getting on a pro or college football team than basketball, baseball, or even soccer. We obviously saw that last year when former Louisiana basketball player Rico Gathers got drafted by the Cowboys despite not having played football since middle school.

Ross Dellenger did a story about K'Lavon's ascent a few months ago. If you have the time, it's a great story to read. If LSU would not have recruited Eric Monroe, K'Lavon might not be even playing football right now.

seems like a tall tale

Because it is.

Similar to people thinking Bregman had never played shortstop before coming to LSU.
