During the game, the commentators talked about how K'Lavon Chaisson got an offer at a LSU football camp before he even played high school football. I don't ever remember this story during his recruitment. Can anyone confirm? It seems like it at least has to be exaggerated some.

I know guys like Barkevious Mingo and others played only a couple years of football before coming to LSU but him just hitching a ride with his friend to camp at LSU seems like a tall tale.

Laron Landry & Justin Vincent immediately come to mind.

Will this be the new Kim Mulkey/Herman Johnson story?

It happens. Some people are just that athletic.

Much easier to teach a freak athlete how to play football than it is to teach an experienced football player how to be a freak athlete.

First time I had heard that as well. Went with E Monroe to camp and jumped in the drills. Since he wasn't in the camp per say, I'm sure somebody at LSU looked at his body type and said"go for it" when he asked to participate. Very good call in my opinion to the coach or staffer that said that!

False, he was a stud in middle school and played 4 years at Barbe. I was a Jr on the team his Freshman year. He did have to sit out his first year in college as a Prop 48 student.

Laron comes to mind for what? I played football against him as a 10 year old.

Nope, story is true. He was just taking a road trip to LSU with his friend, who was participating in the LSU camp. They thought he looked the part and asked him to try a few drills.

There was a story about this on this site a couple of weeks ago. If I recall, the LSU coaches offered him a scholly on the spot after watching him in a few drills and suggested that he start playing for his high school team.

I think he had played hs as a freshman and was going to play that junior year already. His hs coaches weren't just bringing a random basketball player on a field trip with them to Baton Rouge. The announcers said the lsu coaches talked him into playing football his junior year and that he never even r played before. So it was exaggerated.

Don't think Saban wanted him. Thought Jimbo convinced Les to nab him in that final month or so before nsd.

His bio on LSUsorts.net says he didn't play high school football until his junior year.
