the key, as always, is the oline making holes and getting to the second level for the rb's, keeping Mett upright and on spot, sustaining drives, executing redzone offense and keeping our defense off the field.

defensive pressure on McCarron from our frontline would be huge but it is nothing we can count on so, as you say, we have to get creative. frankly, I think stopping the run is more important than worrying about how to trick McCarron. JMO.

get rested, get better, get ready...get even.

If that's the key, we might as well call off the game now. LSU has not been good blitzing all year.

Only 1 team in the SEC has more sacks than LSU this season (it's mizzou)

McCarron is the anti-Manziel. He is very good when he can execute the play that is called. He falls apart if his first option is taken away, and he gets pressure. That is what sucked about last year's game. We let him have the first option during the last possessions of the both halves. Alabama scored touchdowns on both of those possessions while they did very little on their other possessions when LSU played tight coverage on Alabama receivers and got after McCarron.

How do you get pressure on AJ with thirst defenders when we couldn't do it with the talent we use to have?

Blitz 85% of the plays

Man coverage all night

Corners on press every single gat damned play

Linebackers hit the quarterback on every pass play

Defensive linemen be sure to sit on the running back's face on every run play

LSU 75
Bama 0

The KEY to winning this game against 'Bama is to pile up more points than they do.

We never sac'd Murray and we got to Wallace one time. What makes you think we'll be able to rush McCarren?

I hate to burst your bubble, but Chavis IS going to play a soft zone behind the sticks on 3rd and long.

I wonder, sometimes...There are numerous occasions where we played this type defense with 3rd or 4th and long yardage under Pelini, as well...(Tenn '05, Ark '07-triple overtime, just to name 2)...so, the question has to be asked, what is the common denominator between the same scheme with 2 different defensive coordinator's...and it would be interesting to add that the 2 different d-coordinator's play aggressive style defenses except in certain crucial situations? I don't know that the answer to this question is an absolute, but one would have to admit that it's an intriguing question...I don't think we'll ever know the real answer so the respective coordinators will continue to take the "fall".

Miles is overriding the blitz.

Okay, genius...I never said that was definitely happening, but I'm open to other explanations...it could very well be coincidence, but I guess since you think the facts are funny...well then, I guess that makes them "non-factual".

In Chiefs years here, how many different "looks" does he give an offense during a game?? How many times do you think the opposing offense has "no idea" where we are blitzing from or the coverage we will be playing?? Saban made 1 adjustment defensively in NC game and that was to force TM to have to cover people. And AJ had the best game to date of his career. The best way we can beat BAMA is to self scout and break tendencies, cause we do the same thing ALL THE TIME!! Problem is Chief and Les think they are smarter than everyone else and if the players can't get done what they scheme, then down with the ship. Would love to know how many blitz packages our D has?? How many line stunts do they run?? How many different "looks" do we give the other team??

Or...if Miles isn't overriding the blitz, and I never said he was, how about this conversation taking place over the headphones....

Miles..."Coach, it's third and long, go get the quarterback...don't let him sit back and find an open receiver and pick-up the first".

Not entirely true. Mills has had success on the season blitzing the blind side!

The thing our D has been worst at is creating pressure. I hope Beckwith gets in the game and tears shite up.

Our only chance to win is to sustain multiple drives that keep our defense off the field.
This and the rest of your post. In Jan. 2012 our offense did nothing against the great Bama defense resulting in our defense being on the field about 90 plays with predictable results. As it was our great defense gave up only 15 points on field goals until late in the fourth when the inevitable exhaustion set in and Bama ran one in. If this offense were that offense we would have a rough evening. But it isn't, it is better and could be better yet if we are not predictable and make better use of all our receivers and give the Bama defense more worries than Beckham and Landry. As you note:

Unless our offense creates first downs, Bama's style of play will wear down our defense quickly.

It doesn't matter what the defensive scheme is if you don't have players that can step up and make a play.
