Yea, Kevin Faulk had every big time D1 coach in his living room from the time he was in 9th grade til he signed with LSU, but he is probably CLUELESS on how to go talk football and life with recruits. Right?

I am just surprised you didn't call it a left handed cigarette or whacky tobacy.

That is an LSU hall of famer...you should reevaluate things.

I don't give a damn about smoking weed and it should be legal, but as long as it's illegal and against NCAA rules, it's going to be trouble for LSU. Are you just playing dumb? Do you have a short memory? How many players have been suspended for failed drug tests at LSU?

And

Great player =/= great coach and recruiter.

im laughing at you for thinking we can replace our best recruiter with someone that has never recruited before in his life. Just because he was a popular player at LSU. idiot

high school kids dont even know who Kevin Faulk is

Hi, I'm Kevin Faulk. You might remember me from things such as winning multiple superbowls, owning almost every rushing record at LSU, and playing 13 years in the NFL. How bout you come to LSU?

Right. Might as well see if we can get Dalton Hilliard as the coach while we're at it

high school SRs next year werent born when Faulk was at LSU, and were 3-4yrs old the last time he won a superbowl.

Maybe one day he will be a good college coach. But he has never recruited before. You dont learn on the job at LSU.

is Faulk currently a coach somewhere? If not, you want a guy to start his first coaching gig as a RB coach at LSU???

Merely being a good player doesn't necessarily make you a good coach. There's so much more to coaching than that. But certainly it helps to have had prior success as a player, as many coaches have had.

I'd prefer to get an experienced guy who's got a good track record in the coaching ranks.

Does anyone really believe that Faulk wouldn't be a great recruiter and coach?

based on what?

i think you are underestimating trying to hit the ground running at a place like LSU when you have ZERO experience recruiting.

Look no further than this thread, dude. For fricks sake, Bradley Dale Peveto is an ACE recruiter.... let that sink in...there are people here that think Kevin "I can't fit all my Super Bowl rings in my hand" Faulk couldn't persuade high school recruits (majority black, a fact) to come and play at LSU...all the while, BDP can keep a job he is terrible at (Special Teams) because he is so important to recruiting. It might defy logic and reasoning anywhere not called Tiger Rant.

ETA: I know he won't be hired, so it's really all just piss in the breeze anyway, but Faulk has visited more states, stadiums and airports than everyone in this thread combined. Along the way, he probably met more coaches, shook more hands, and made more connections than everyone in this thread combined. Take also into account, that all those college and pro players he made friends with along the way are having or have had sons that will be studs that want to play at a university like LSU. I swear, does this only make sense in my head?

Anyway, I'm sure Miles will make a solid hire and his name won't be Kevin Faulk, but I think he loves his university and would be great for the gig. Peace.

You don't think putting on his rings and giving them a little tap on the kids kitchen table has an effect? I'm not saying he should get the job mind you, I'm just not worried about him having no recruiting experience.

-his experience actually BEING a recruit and top player in the country
-his louisiana high school ties
-his accomplishments at LSU and familiarity with the program
-his accomplishments in the NFL and
-super bowl rings and being in the patriots organization learning how to do things the belichick way

there's just a lot of positives of bringing kevin faulk on as a running backs coach. it would make national headlines IMO.

yea, when he gets 2-3 years experience actually recruiting, then he can come to LSU. im fine with that. I dont know why people think it is that easy to be a good recruiter.

Point taken, but I believe anyone with a good football pedigree, success on the field to back up the talk, and marginal people skills could do well as a recruiter. Hell, it seems like it would actually be enjoyable going to games, meeting people, evaluating players, sitting around a dinner table telling folks why LSU would be a good fit for their son. Also, with technology being what it is, it's easier than ever to stay in touch with someone many states away. Just my opinion, but I think Kevin Faulk would do well. I realize Miles isn't hiring him, though, and probably for the reasons y'all have listed.

Someone with "marginal people skills" and no experience can be an ace recruiter, no problem?
