Their helmet design has changed a few times in the last ~ 60 years. Their favorite one seems to be a blue interlocking UK on a white helmet. The large letter "K" seems to have some mystical quality -- it's been used in the past for key home games. I remember back in 1974 Kentucky played back-to-back home contests, vs Vandy and Florida in them, and Mike Fanuzzi became a man possessed, a bashi-bazouk. It was wild.

My all time favorite Kentucky helmet was in 1972, and that year only: the word "CATS" appeared on both sides of the helmet. It was in italic script, and the C was much larger than the ATS.

When I see those uniforms, I think of the Bill Curry days. That's Kentucky Football's best look, in my opinion.

When we hired Bill Curry I thought we were finally going to make some noise. I met him not long after he was hired, and he was as nice and genuine as you would expect him to be, but he never got UK on track.

I still thank Tim Couch's dad for refusing to visit with Philip Fulmer or we might have lost him to UT. Then Curry didn't play him, which might not have been the worst idea for a freshman, but we ran a QB option offense, so when Couch did get into games, he was in the wrong offense for a passing QB. Sigh. The bad old days....
