How many years does it take to build a NCAA tournament team at LSU with the current rules?

Wade did it in year 2.

Johnny Jones did it in year 3 and he was having to start a tuba player year 1.

These were under the old transfer rules too.

More NIL is not the answer. McMahon has had more than enough talent to make an NCAA tournament.

Here is how LSU has fared nationally recruiting/transfer since McMahon has taken over:

2024 - 16th
2023 - 47th
2022 - 17th

Here is how LSU has fared in SEC recruiting since McMahon has taken over:

2024 - 5th
2023 - 10th
2022 - 5th

Here is how LSU has fared in SEC transfer portal since McMahon has taken over:

Being that we are not a traditional basketball power, hovering around 5th best recruiting in SEC seems about right.

How much to get Dan Hurley away from UConn? Or Bill Self from Kansas?

While something like that may be impossible, LSU needs to plan on making a massive, big splash hire. Somebody like Dusty May from Michigan or even poach Jans from Moo State. It's got to move the needle and attract recruits. We can't get some schmoe from a mid-major again. Gotta break open the checkbook. Sell out the PMAC every game. Raise ticket prices. Build a new arena.

The administration bootlickers act like McMahon deserves a pass because wades players entered the transfer portal 3 years ago.

That’s why Kentucky is relevant.

Pope had zero players one year ago after cal left and yet they are still playing.

No one expects that at at LSU but it proves that in this environment rebuilding a roster is essentially instantaneous.

McMahon had 3 SEC wins 3 years out.
