They're going to ply each other every year. We don't have to guess. We'll see who was the better choice in due time

i get what you're doing here, but you're comparing:
- Notre Dame to ULL(USL)
- a 60 year old who spent 11 yrs at ND vs a 42 year old who spent 4 yrs at ULL

kinda feels like the Mulkey to Wade comparison. Obviously the older coach is better bc they have a proven career. Doesn't mean the younger coach can't be just as successful

I agree with you though; I'd rather have the older, experienced, future HOF coach too.

Napier might end up being a great coach at UF but Kelly is a more proven commodity and I don't think Woody wanted to take a chance on an up-and-comer type with this hire.

This. For the current time and place, Kelly was the right choice and it isn't close.

In my opinion, if the decision were down to Kelly, Aranda, and Napier (and there is nothing to say that it was), Kelly and Aranda are close considerations but Napier is a distant third.

So what you are saying is that Napier has slim chance to beat saban given the results of his former assistants vs Saban ? I don't get what ya trying to say, not a clear message

What? How bad of a hire Florida made. Scott Stricklin did the worst job since Joe Alleva, when it comes to coaching searches. Dude hired the first guy who called begging for the job, who was butt hurt because we weren't interested, and said he wanted the job.

Kelly is a know quantity.

Napier has a lot of potential but also high risk.

Can’t rule out Napier long term, but LSU was not in a position to take a BIG risk at Napier working out. UF has had a string of wrong coaches and needs a home run hire. We will know in a few years if they got one or not.

I agree with this but if Napier turns out to be the next Saban we will look like the seven teams that passed on Tom Brady.

Both have a proven record, one closer to the top than the other. LSU made the right choice for now. Circumstances dictate different choices. Every team passed on Brady, at least 6 times. He was picked in the 7th round. I’m sure every mother team wished they could have turned back the clock.

Of course we did. Woodward hires proven coaches. Napier, IMO, is not proven. His sample size at ULL is far too small.

No contest. Kelly was the right decision to do a complete overhaul.

Florida lost to LSU backups 2 years in a row so LSU will never be in a worse shape facing Fla.

We don’t know who’ll have more success at this point. To pretend we do is asinine

What if LSU didn't take a chance in an up and coming coach named Nick Saban

Oh, please. Saban had already been an NFL defensive coordinator and the head coach of a 10-win Big Ten team that was ranked #7 at the end of the year.

Nothing Napier has done matches that.

Not saying Napier won't be successful at Florida. He might be. But, when Saban was hired, he had accomplished a lot more than Napier has at this point in his career.
