re: Yosemite?

Posted by Diablo on 10/20/22 at 10:53 pm to
You can do Yosemite and Sequoia in the same day, but it is better to hike up to some falls in Yosemite. I would make it two days. Head up to Tahoe the next day. You can fly in or out of Reno from Tahoe. Honestly, you could take a week in Northern Ca and not get to everything.
Haversham and Baker is a golf travel agency. They have access to all courses, even St Andrews, with confirmed tee times. They can make your hotel reservations (bed and breakfasts) near the courses, and have drivers for you, van or bus. If you want to play Royal Dornouch (great course), it is a long drive from St Andrews (6 hours) Uber used them twice. Great service!

Both have a proven record, one closer to the top than the other. LSU made the right choice for now. Circumstances dictate different choices. Every team passed on Brady, at least 6 times. He was picked in the 7th round. I’m sure every mother team wished they could have turned back the clock.

re: Tell me about Pinehurst

I’ve been several times. Enjoyed each time. It’s a bucket list place for golfers. I don’t know if they still have it, but The Pinecrest Inn has a dining room and a bar. Some late nights, after the dining room was vacated, the bar patrons (all golfers) would but up a dollar each and attempt to chip balls into the fireplace across the room. First one in would win the pot, then it would start all over again. $1 for each round. Money added up. I lived a hour from there in 1990. Played regularly with an older guy (70s) who said when he was in high school, they would go drive over in the summer and play (at that time they had 4 courses). He said IF they could find someone, it was $1 to play. He said most times they could walk on for free. All the snowbirds were back north in summer time. The resort was open from October thru May.

Only a very controlled kiln climate can limit the cracking. Your solution is to fill cracks with epoxy.
Nothing like an insomniac night, and wake up at 2 am to The Open Championship on for a 5-6 hour broadcast.
The one negative about Bandon.....it takes a whole day of flights to get there, unless you have a private jet.
I e been to Scotland/Ireland 2 times, 2 weeks each time. Recommend the same, if you want to play all the top courses. Otherwise, you’ll be planning another trip. In North America, highly recommend Pinehurst, Bandon (golfers only), Wisconsin, BC (Lake Okanagan), Banff area, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. Norther Michigan has LOTS of golf courses and great packages (some are around $100 per night...room and one round). Myrtle Beach for cheap packages. Besides going back to Scotland, I’d want to go to Bandon once a year. It is pure golf, walking, caddies, play the ball in the air, or run it on the ground. You could hit a PW or driver from 170 yards, depending on the wind. It’s more scenic that Pebble Beach, and has better layouts. The only course around Pebble that matches it, is Cypress Point.

How deep is the concrete? A rental with a good blade, and water cooling the blade can make the job easy, if you make a guide along the cut line. Use some 2x4s or 6s to act as your straight line.
If the thermostat or sensor isn’t positioned correctly, it may be getting a false reading, allowing the compressor to run longer that it should. Removing the door cover may have contributed to this. The engineering for refrigerators are just so that any altering can have such an effect. I’d put a thermometer inside, at different locations to get an accurate reading.
Disrespect is the greatest motivator. The team in the locker room is a better team ranked #4, than ranked #1. The hunter is more dangerous than the hunted

It rained sideways, one day. We had two groups. 1st group was making the turn on #10 at Old Head in Ireland. The caddies with the group coming down #9 asked our caddies WTF we were doing, keeping on playing. Our caddies replied, “Ficking Americans!” Old Head is Pebble Beach on steroids. Dramatic holes along cliffs. One par 3......had to start the ball about 50 yards out over the ocean.....the wind took it back onto the green. Two weeks playing 14 rounds of golf. It rained only on two rounds. I would never play in that weather at home, but you ha e to experience it there.

If you want a “no worry” trip, where everything is taken care of, try Perry Golf. I used them twice. Depending on the size of your group, they will pick you up at the airport (van, bus, etc.) and take you to each course and hotel. They can take care of your flights and connections also. They are first class! It’s a once in a lifetime trip, so I wouldn’t mess with trying it myself.

We spent two weeks, one in Ireland and one in Scotland. If you are just wanting Scotland, of course you want to play the Old Course. The New Course is somewhat similar but not as historic. Kingsbarn is nearby, as is Carnoustie. Royal Aberdeen and Cruden Bay are not far away. Then, I’d go to Troon and Prestwick. The two courses are next to each other. The Open was played at Prestwick for the first few years. Turnberry has three courses. The Ailsa Course hosts the Open. If you travel up to Northern Scotland, thru the Highlands, you have Royal Dornoch and Nairn. Royal Dornoch is top notch! These are all links style courses. There are some inland, but they are more American style layouts. If you have any questions, I can give you more suggestions.
Yes, but Yosemite has limited access, except for summer months (because of snow). 3 days in Yosemite. Tahoe is about a two hour drive to get there. Ride around the lake takes one hour. Small villages and towns nearby are neat to tour. Go into Nevada and see Carson City....Truckee on the north shore......drive west on I 80 gets you back to the Bay Area (2-3 hr drive). San Francisco has a lot, depending on what you are looking for. Scenery wise, go over to Marin and head up to the top of Mt Tam.........great view of the bay and city from there!

re: Dryer is running too hot, why?

Posted by Diablo on 10/11/19 at 2:38 pm to
Thermostat is keeping the heating element/gas on. It regulates the temp. Even if you had a clog, it would just stop heating sooner.
I stand corrected. What’s your point......the difference was 45?
That is my point. They look for such minute, insignificant points. Does anyone remember where the Tigers ranked on Sept 29, 2007 or, Sept, 29, 2003? What matters is where they stand on Dec 1st, not now. Don’t worry about who is ahead of them. If they win, all is taken care of.
English majors to the front! You’re a hero.
Knew keyboard whiz’s would show up. Hope you covered the spread, anyway.
I’ve seen the Tigers demolish Archie Manning 63-0. I’ve seen them come within 2 minutes of defeated USC and their invincible team, 50 years ago. What I can’t stand is these keyboard maniacs who think they know everything about college football. The season is five weeks old. LSU has been undefeated numerous times at this stage of the season. These zeroes think LSU should be #1. They have played a good Texas team. Every other victory is just par for the course. They have shown themselves offensively to stay with anybody in the country. Just like the NFL, anything can happen in a given week, especially when key players return. LSU can beat any team in the country. They can also lose, to a any team in the conference, except Arkansas, Miss St, ole Miss and T A& M. Talent will elevate them to victory. Burrow is a leader, and would not let that happen, within his control. It is much better to have the team have a “chip on their shoulder” where they feel like they are disrespected. I don’t give a shite where they are ranked November 1st. Where they are ranked Dec 1st matters! Anything between now and then is all chatter for people who have short man’s disease. One game at a time is all the Tigers are concerned with! Anything else is noise!

If you want to see the whole course, unobstructed, get there early and walk the holes in order, before spectators fill in along the ropes. If you walk it backwards, you will run into traffic along holes on the front nine. Remember, it is a very hilly course.....if you, or your dad is not in fairly decent shape, you WILL tire out. Wear comfortable shoes. Shop early and leave at will call for when you leave following the round. Amen corner is a great location to catch a lot of action, and you can move easily to holes 14, 15, 17 and 18, from there. Dining out is up to you. Remember, there will also be 20,000 to 30,000 other people in Augusta over crowding local restaurants. Even if you make reservations, it will be very crowded. Enjoy, TV does it no justice. There is no sporting event like it!!!
