I hope Grant comes back and doesn't do the rest of his recovery in the minors.

If I'm the Pirates, I don't know if that's enough of a discount considering how far away he is from the majors

yeah but you’re probably a little less cheap than the pirates.

Well no shite that is why Max Clark will not be going 1st in the draft. The pirates will be taking somebody else and Whoever thinks otherwise is foolish

Even the cheapest franchises spend their bonus pool. That's not what is at issue. It's whether they would take an underslot guy to spread that money to other players in the draft.

I think it was the ESPN writer McDaniel suggested that neither Crews nor Skenes may go #1. Some industry insiders think high school OF Max Clark would sign for $1MM under slot if drafted #1.

I will never understand not going best available at #1. Cool, you can sign some third round prospect in the 8th round... Definitely worth skimping on the first overall pick.

I hear you but sometimes it works out. Astros took Carlos Correa over Byron Buxton when Buxton was the consensus best player. I think they saved close to $2MM and then also drafted and signed Lance McCullers Jr.

If I was a betting man, and I'm not, I would bet Grant Taylor stays put at LSU for another year. Even though he won't be ready to pitch at the start of 2024.

One of these is not like the other.

Which one? Because I would pick them in that exact same order.
