If Miles finishes say, 11-2 or 10-3 this year after the bowl game, with what we've seen from Etling and with Brennan committed, we'd be insane to fire Miles and risk throwing away what likely will develop into the best stretch of QBs we've ever had at LSU between Etling, Scott, Brennan, Narcisse and possibly McMillan.
Les is poised to dethrone Saban as Alpha Dog in the SEC and we'd be nuts to show him the door right at the very moment everything starts coming together for us to be contending for championships year in and year out for five or six years.
I don't think our fans fully comprehend the ramifications of firing the most successful coach in school history with all the talent he has stockpiled and what he's got coming in.
If Les stays on another few years, we're going to see an offense like we saw from 2005-2007, which coupled with Aranda's defense will return our program to glory and possibly elevate it to heights we've never before experienced.
If he goes, we'll undoubtedly lose many of our top commits, possibly transfers of players already here, we could lose Aranda, Orgeron, Juluke; and to top it off there are very, very few candidates we could realistically bring in who would be a probable upgrade over the status quo. There is absolutely no guarantee the next coach will be any better no matter who it is.
Les is the most successful coach we've ever had here, and to just assume that we'll be able to get somebody better is naive at best, and that's being generous.
Downvote and flame away.

The difference is that LSU is throwing the ball. The reason for the difference is because most of the LSU fan base, and almost all media folks screamed for a change. If the head coach could not see what was broken, and make the necessary changes to fix it, he should be replaced. I could understand 1 or 2 years to correct a problem, but our offense has been in quite a rut for a while, with the exception being the Mett years. There is no excuse for LSU to still be trying to put it all together in the 4th week of the season with a veteran team and outstanding young talent.

Surely you can agree that the change in QB and the resultant emergence of a passing game is reason to be optimistic, right?

No issue with that.

I really think the Wisconsin game is the best thing that could have happened to Les. He's old and hard headed, and it got his attention. He knows he's got to win out to keep his job.
You don't think that Les got the point when they carried him off the field after winning a meaningless game in supposedly his last game at Tiger Stadium ever.
Nahhhh, it has to be the Wisconsin game.

So beating Ms State by 3 at home as a 16 pt favorite impressed you? Low expectations.

The point is numnutz (talk about following the conversation), we've had some horrendously schitty QB during Miles tenure. The QB is not typically supposed to be the weakest link on your team and yet Miles has exceled at putting out just that...which in effect, has most certainly held us back to a large degree.

The actual point is that the guy that said "4 years" made shite up. You really should stop trying to call me out. You fail miserably every time. Especially had the audacity to post the underlined.
quote:You'll notice I have never said that on the whole we have under-performed at QB. You are again inventing an argument and trying make a ":gotcha" post when I never said any of the random shite you post.

Maybe finish the contract, but no raise or extension.
Give him the bonus, no extension.
You can't put yourself in a hole and can always extend later if results stay positive.

I was in that train last year, give him another shot with the stellar classes he's had and now a jr qb with a season under his belt.
At some point, enough is enough.

Like it or not he's our coach. You can question his coaching expertise, and think we'd be better off with him gone, but he's not.
As long as he's our HC I will support him, his staff, and the product he puts on the field. I hope he turns it around, wins out, and brings home a Natty!
I will not, and don't understand those that do, who cheer against him, openly want him fired. Cheering against him is cheering against LSU Football and I'm not down with traitors.
