I’d say it’s one of LSU’s all time most talented defenses. That being said...I know deep down inside I am not worthy as a person so I must project on to anonymous posters and say they still suck.

That being said FIFY. Ree I gotcha back...

Vincent really does seem like a very likeable kid. Hope he has a great year.

Flott was kind of a sleeper or at least wasn’t as highly touted as some others in the class but it sounds like the coaches found a star. Great job evaluating by the coaches

Even without Stingley, I think this would have been an outstanding DB class.

This is what Mike D said about Raydar in the thread from the RB I linked on page 1.

"I have an SEC coaching friend of mine who swears in short order Jones will play and play a lot for the Tigers. He was recruiting him and didn’t land him, but he says Jones is the real deal at cornerback and with his size, long arms, recovery speed, and ability to play the ball in flight, LSU will not be able to keep him on the bench long."

And the guy may not see playing time for a while at LSU because of Stingly, Hampton and the others.

Nah. We were loaded in 2016 too, his first year here. Returning starters (LB) Beckwith, Key, (DL) Godchaux, Neal, (DB) White, Adams, Thomas, Jefferson, Toliver. Guys that had serious reps and some became starters in Gilmore, Riley, Alexander, Jackson, Bower, and Battle.

We hadn't had so many impact players return on defense since the 2011 season. We finished 10th in total defense, and 5th in scoring defense.

We had only allowed 11 TDs prior to the TAMU game. That was an average of one TD a game. Only 3 teams scored more than 16 on us in those first 11 games and those numbers were 18, 20, and 21 points. LSU allowed the fewest TDs in 2016. Five less than the #2nd best in the country. TAMU has screwed our defensive stat line twice in three years now.

I agree. I find myself forgetting about Jay Ward, but he sounds like a really good player as well. Seems like a nice haul for the secondary

My only concern coming into this season was cornerback depth ...it looks like we ready

We are OK. Flott was brought in to be able to be plugged in in case Fulton or Stingley missed a game or two with injury. Ward and Raydar will be game ready to be able to play significant minutes and not just here and there by the end of year.

Don't forget about Maurice Hampton. He may be the best of the guys coming in besides Stingley. He has a broken hand right now and is limited.

After talking about how Stingley is a special person and player and probably the best prep player in the nation Mike D says:

"Maurice Hampton is a special player, too. I don’t know what will happen with him and Major League Baseball, but he’s a stud football player. He tracks the ball so quickly in flight. You can’t teach that. Either you have that ability or you don’t. And he’s got it. He’s a physical player who could play cornerback, in the nickel, and even free safety. That’s a huge pickup for LSU, if he doesn’t turn pro in baseball."

On who will make the biggest impact:

"The two guys I’m interested to see develop in the summer are cornerback/nickel-back Maurice Hampton, Jr. – who looks now like he will play at LSU and not turn pro in baseball – and cornerback Raydarious Jones from Mississippi."

Raydar, Raydar, Raydar!!! LOVE the guy, for his name alone and I have a feeling I will love him even more.

"along with Stingley and Hampton. And to be honest, with some technical upgrades RayDarious Jones is right there too."

Another interesting comment:

"landing top cover cornerbacks is the second hardest thing to find on defense. They got that this year"

That's cool. but I swear I don't understand this dude's account. It's constant and just comes across as a politician trying to win over people. Can we seriously stop this shite?
He's a super fan and is probably posting from deep within the football operations building and has some good info. Leave him alone.

Why? What's wrong with directing the board to interesting pieces about LSU football? Or is it only cool if you include some critical pieces?
