Didn't he join Miles' coaching staff for a short time and they had a difference of opinion and he left.

Coming home and a career don't always mesh.

This confirms some of you in this board are complete imbeciles!! To seriously call out a man for earning a living for his family! Wow! You have obviously never had responsibilities in your life as your biggest challenge is computer time with your sisters! Go away as your perceived love of LSU wouldn't come close to Karl Dunbars! Reality for him is the color of money and the well being of his family is Crimson for now

Who? I dare you to list names. If you list Saban me and thousands of others laugh to the point of falling off chairs. Good God!

But you know, I am not surprised some may feel that way. Here and at least one other board I see ex LSU employees who got axed and have an axe to grind spill crap and slam the program and the school. Maybe those folks were sorry employees deserved to be fired or just pricks?? Screw'em!!!

Naw, man, Dunbar is just putting beans on the table with his hard earned wages. We can't criticize that kind of work ethic.

frick bama.

Been a fan of Karl's since he blocked the game-winning attempt at a field goal against Ohio state in tiger stadium, which also had Bo pelini in the buckeye secondary that day. Les wouldn't pay Karl what he is worth, so yeah, he's out to stick it to LSU. Karl always does a good job no matter where he is.

He's already trying to leave Bama. Interviewing with pro teams.

I know someone like this as well. I know he is proud of his accomplishments but said in hindsight he wished he had gone somewhere else.
A lot of people see former players coming back and being recognized on the field and think they just love their school. But think about it, if you knew you were going somewhere, anywhere, and have 100,000 people give you a standing ovation, you would go no matter what your feelings are.

I really can't imagine having loved and played for LSU, left everything I have for them on the field, go on to future professional successes via the jump start my opportunity at LSU afforded me...and then one day just be like "frick it, I'm now with Bama and LSU can go frick themselves in every aspect." It would just turn my gut to consider being that way.

Did LSU offer him a job? Ever heard of Vince Dooley? Every heard of Pat Dye? They switched their alma maters for their oldest rivals.
People need jobs and they go where there's opportunity and cash.
I don't fault Dunbar. He's paid to do a job...by Bama.

Agree...its a business just like the NFL. These coaches are loyal to the paycheck but is doesn't mean they hate their alma mater either. Hell, we just had an ex Auburn QB on staff. Look at Robert Gillespie at Tenn. Rarely do coaches stay at a school more than 4 yrs and even more rare to be at their alma mater.

Dooley and Dye were also chosen to be the head coaches at those schools. Slightly different situations, but I see your point. As a poster mentioned above, Dunbar had an out with Les and seems to be holding a grudge.

The best part about all this bullshite...it didn't affect one second of my sleep last night. I was only stating that I couldn't see myself in the same situation.

I'm sure Dunbar is highly, highly compensated for the job he does, and I'm certain he is a good coach. Sunny side up...the positive portions of me should say "man, LSU sure has turned out a lot of highly sought after coaches."

Still, frick bama. This never changes.
