Was apparently overrated as a recruit, had an injury, hasn't developed enough to get on the field.

Good for him
If he can make some money, I can’t hold that against him. His best shot to make real money is in the NFL, so hopefully he manages his time well.

Maybe a Southern Lab (where Kardell is famous) fan will sponsor Kardell for Delpit's Chicken Shack.

This is Lebron James levels of delusion.
On the surface, yes. Certainly he won't get any big name statewide or national "sponsors" But would it be all that surprising for some club in north Baton Rouge (his neighborhood) to use his name to promote an event? Or some other local business in the area to use him to promote their product? Just because many of us here on the board aren't likely customers of those businesses doesn't mean there are not customers. And even just being on the team is often times enough to be a (very) "local celebrity" who can be used to promote things in the neighborhood. Even if his "goodwill" is largely based on his high school success and has nothing to do with his time, thus far, at LSU.
I'm sure all of us know, or know of, some kid from a small town who became a "local hero" by being a part of a major college team even though he rarely, if ever, played in games for that college team.

I remember him when being recruited he was going be outstanding, that was like 2-3 yrs ago I don’t think he has seen the field, what is the issue with him?
He just over powered weak competition.
Grossly out matched and way in over his head, both mentally and physically, at the SEC level.
Never should have been offered a scholarship to LSU. (You didn't see Nick Saban rushing over here to recruit him, did you?)

Dude should look at getting sponsored by Lean Cuisine.

He could maybe play an ostrich in Liberty Mutual commercials?

I wonder who gets the NIL rights from Bogie's?

Bro needs to worry about getting on the field first. Seriously did not even know if he was still on the team or not

Don’t flatter yourself with your simplistic view. We all get it. Players already get paid. Everyone knows it.
And that wasn't my point. Coaches and athletic departments make millions and millions in profits in and no one bats an eye. Now players wants to maybe make a little money above the table based on their name, image or likeness and all of a sudden people are bemoaning the imminent death of college football altogether.
You want to talk about simplistic views? How about the farce that is amateurism and the student-athlete model in the context of big-time D-1 football? It's all a fricking ruse to make absurd amounts of money without having to treat these players like what they really are - employees. Big time players at big time programs are looking to make it to the NFL and as quickly and easily as possible. Going to school is just a necessary inconvenience for many of them. When coaches can hop back and forth from schools on a whim and make millions upon millions in endorsement deals, please excuse me for not being outraged when a player wants to try to make a little scratch while he's here.

I might be wrong but are you sure about that? For some reason I thought gumpland was in on him.

Oh God, if these oppressed individuals didn't already have a sense of entitlement.

I’m very curious to see what happens here. So many kids out of highschool think they are going to be worth millions with these new NIL rules. I just don’t see it.
Ah, not to worry. It won't be long and every player will be sharing the endorsement money the stars get. They'll get a check each year for a percentage of the total sum of all player endorsements for their team. Obviously, their feelings would be hurt if they were left out of the money. That wouldn't be fair to any player on the team--bench warmer or not.
I'm sure they'll get a check from the school president when they get their participation trophies.

Perfectly put. Yes a college education is compensation for an athlete, but is it a fair compensation? Maybe not given the money they generate. I like the capitalist aspect to it, leverage your talent to its maximum ability.
Will this change the college game older folks like Rosenblatt grew up with in the 70s and 80s? Of course, but don’t blame the athletes…
Blame the NCAA for greedily squeezing every last Tax free dollar out of broadcasters under the guise of amateurism.
