Our DL might be a mixed bag week 1, but watching them grow into a dominant unit (which I’m confident will happen) is going to be one of the funnest storylines for the 2026 lsu season.
Esp if the offense clicks and they’re playing w a lead more often than not. They’re gonna pin their ears back and go hunting a lot. Can’t wait.

Long term you are correct but in 2027, I'll have to see it first. We either have one of the greatest DL classes in recruiting history or we have a bunch of middling upperclassmen that can't beat out incoming freshman. I hope its the former but fear its the latter.
2028 and 2029 will be incredible though.

If you are able to stop opponents from running the ball, it gives you a real chance in every game.

I agree, the early schedule will be tough but simply because the DL will improve greatly as the year goes on the late schedule and the playoffs are setting up to be special

People will be upset with this statement, but when was the last time a highly rated DT prospect lived up to the recruting hype?
McKinley - For 2 years he's been just an average/rotational player
Wiggins - Did nothing at LSU and transferred
M. Smith - MAYBE was on his way to being great in year 2 until an early injury. Never did much of note at LSU before or after that season
Roy - Solid player, but not consistently outstanding.
Guillory - Same as Roy.
Shelvin - OK, but not dominant.
E. Alexander - average, at best.
Lawrence - solid.
Certainly every LSU fan hopes this class is dominant. But it is hard to speak in absolutes.
At best, you had a few average players in that group, but no real game changers. The NFL draft reflects that. LSU has had ONE "homegrown (i.e. non-transfer) DT (Mason Smith) taken higher than the 4th round over the last 12 years

I think so? Since “Edge” became a thing here over the last several years, it looks to me that the industry has at least specified between interior and edge. Maybe it is all DL?

Brown is the highest rated out of all of these guys. Anderson second behind McKinley (not counting Smith for obvious reasons). Geralds looks like a freak. None of these freshman have the demonstrated injury/weight concerns a lot of the guys on this list had.

Having said ALL of that, it can be tough for a freshman to be physically ready to play on the interior in the SEC. I think Geralds and Anderson have the bodies for it. I think Brown will take a little longer given he played at a lower classification and was a two way guy.

All kinds of excited. I have a gut feeling Anderson is going to be an absolute wrecking machine on the line. He has that look about him that no one can stop him.
