Univ of Cincinnati has had one of the best defenses in the nation the past two seasons with him at DC

They regularly are atop of the nation in pass defense. They nearly held Memphis to negative rushing yards yesterday

The guy is young, smart and can actually relate to his players unlike Bo.. I will never understand why we SETTLED for a guy who has no clue how to defend modern day offenses.

One simple misdirection or RB in motion and the LSU defense shits its pants

Is it really settling when he’s the only guy interviewed and offered.

Looks like O got exactly who he wanted.

Well if coach o doesn’t know him then it’s not happening. O only wants friends and fellow failures on his staff. He will not be under minded. The bitch stops with him. He’s the Cajun dumbass.

Pete Carroll didn't recommend him, so no consideration.

How much does Fickel have to do with it though? Id be wary until I knew for sure how much of the scheme is Fickel vs the DC.

The fact that he brought Brady on last year and let him completely change the whole offense says otherwise. But with that said, he has tried to go the friend route with Ensminger and Pelini. Pelini did really well when he was at LSU the first time, but that was a long time ago. I can't believe the defense looks as lost as it does on the field .

He wants Guys he knows will fit culture. I don’t see a problem With hiring coaches that he is familiar with.

Pelini come recommended by carroll, Moffitt, Marucci, several former tigers who played for Pelini, etc etc. that’s how most coaches operate.

But is his defense an “attacking-style” defense? If not, we’re better off with Pelini.

We didn’t just settle...we went out and paid him to be the 2nd highest paid D. Coordinator in all of CFB.

It’s honestly laughable.

I don't have a problem with it either and I liked Pelini when he was here. I thought he could be a good fit. But I think there were better choices out there who hadn't been out of division I for so long.

He’s a younger coach who understands this generation of players and can actually hold a conversation with them.

Was very good linebacker for Fickell at Ohio State from 2004-2008. Learned well... One of the up and coming DC's.
