Considering UF is going to remain the permanent opponent for likely the next 4-5 years.

He's whipped Ed O badly head to head the past 2 seasons with arguably an inferior roster.

I presume we continue to out recruit UF handily as we have done for the better part of the last decade or more.

History has shown this game is a dogfight in the post-Spurrier years no matter the record of either team.

He’s a good coach and he is the big dog in the state of Florida now.

It'll help having them in Baton Rouge next season.

Most of this board laughed at the idea of giving Mullen an interview in tbe coaching “search”

If they get a QB to fit his system well, it will be a very, very hard out.

Honestly, Jalen Hurts would be fricking perfect in a Mullen system.

It's going to be a battle no doubt! Mullen knows how to utilize his weapons!

I wouldn’t say that he whipped O this year. LSU lost by 8 on the road. Florida is a top ten team. I just don’t find that loss as bad as some people on here want to think it is. It looked bad at the time but just like the Miami and Auburn wins don’t look as good as they did at the time the Florida loss doesn’t look as bad as it did when it happened.

We should be ok at home. Those trips to Gainesville will tough though no doubt. Especially 2020 breaking in a new QB.

We hardly got "whipped" this year. The game was even statistically. 3 turnovers is what cost us that one.

2019, LSU has a decided advantage in Tiger Stadium, starting at QB.

I'll give you 2017 when Mullen was at State, but 2018 at Florida wasn't how you described it.

Yes, LSU lost, but the Gators did NOT whip us badly. Go check the stats. Every one is nearly dead even, except 1. Care to guess which one that was? That's right - turnovers.

We lost 3-1 in turnovers and that was the difference in the game. How much of that has to do with coaching is debatable, but I seriously doubt that Coach O and the staff are OK with lost fumbles and pick 6s.

As for the OP's point, I agree that Mullen is gonna be the king of the East in a year or two if he recruits well. The permanent opponent scheduling sucks arse.

Mullen turned MSU into a respectable opponent taking mostly castoffs from LA, MS and AL.

He's now in a position where he can take nothing but 3* players from his state and build a more than formidable roster. Couple this with the fact that Miami and FSU are both a dumpster fire and you've got a recipe for more recruiting success than he's ever had.

Depends on his recruiting. It was the only real knock against him

At State. At UF he most likely will recruit very well. His first class at UF is higher ranked than any he had at State.

I think Mullen messed up when he publicly said that Aranda has tendencies to repeat the same calls and that was a big part of the reason that Florida had success vs us.

I think Aranda adjusts big time and we will have some very good games to watch

I expect great games in the future between LSU & UF. These have always seemed like highlights of the season for me.
