This doesn't excite me as much as it used too, as I have convinced myself it's a forgone conclusion that Dabo would immediately jump to Bama...

Jimmy Sexton to Saban: LET'S GET THAT BREAD!!!!

Cause you know Alabama will pay it. This is a non-story.

Meyer, Harbaugh and Fisher all have a higher base salary so look for that to change. Though as a total compensation package Saban has the largest total.

That’s actually wrong. He had best defense in league as a DC under Bill in Cleveland. This silly narrative he cant coach needs to die by the uninformed here. While he had a losing record in Miami overall. He can coach defense. His Offenses there sucked. Not defense. He rebuilt LSU. Took MSU over with ncaa sanctions. Won 9 games at toledo! I doubt he had great talent there! If it all was only talent then LSU’s last head coach would have won more nattys like Nick right?

This claim is nuts it reeks of sour grapes.

Every year you get the same speculation. There are rumors only and nothing from anyone associated with Bama, Browns or Saban himself to confirm this. Incredibly unlikely he will return to NFL... you just can't have the control over the players like Saban has on his team. NFL is out of control. Here is a guy who will go down as the best coach in college history and every year you get "he's leaving." I think it is other schools/fans wet dream that he leaves.

Saban is still subject to the whims of teenage boys he recruits, and the NCAA is not in the back pocket of Bama as much as the SEC is, so there is always the possibility of NCAA sanctions for recruiting violations by his assistants or alumni. Being an NCAA football coach isn't all sunshine and daisies.

I agree 100% Had he chosen to take Brees, he would still be in the NFL with the Dolphins.

Saban's a good coach. No doubt. He just had a crummy head coaching record in the NFL and it's fun to pile on the sorry SOB.

But it would be interesting to see him coach some place where he didn't have the #1 recruiting class 6 or 7 years in a row or whatever the number is. And to see him coach some place where he didn't get some of the breaks like he's received at Alabama.

I think he's certainly one of the top 5 coaches in NCAA history, but he's gotten more than his fair share of "lucky breaks" at Bama, in my opinion.

It doesn't "reek of sour grapes", it is sour grapes on my part.

You know the Browns at least gauge his interest. It's not just a dream from the other school's fans, but at the very least a possibility.

Saban's gotta feel like he's got some unfinished business in the NFL, but its all about his mentality regarding where he feels he fits. Money doesn't mean anything at this point to him. What matters is that the Browns have a ton of talent, and he could immediately win if his scheme works.

My question is if his style of coaching fits in todays NFL. I don't think you can run his defensive scheme against NFL teams that have talented offensive lines and good QB play, but he's a relentless worker, very smart and has proven to be innovative. Good coaches that have learned from past failures in the NFL have a pretty good track record. Bellichick and Pete Carroll both have proven that.

I don’t think there is anyway Nick leaves what he has at Bama.

I’m not concerned.

If/when Saban leaves, that gig is Dabo’s to turn down.

I’ll take a lifetime ban and 1000 cash bet that he isn’t going anywhere. I thought his ego would get him and he would make another run but not now. That time has passed. He will retire or die of a heart attack in the sideline in Tuscaloosa.

Some people like new challenges. Some people like to continue to achieve new heights. Some people look to succeed where they have failed before.

Do actors leave successful shows? Do Senators run for President? Do CEOs leave to create start-ups?

Maybe Saban is content to rest on his laurels. Or maybe he will look for new challenges. Time will tell.
