Amazing What don't ranters get about baseball. This is a throwaway game. A mid week game. The best teams worry about three game series, and if you win two thats great baseball. .500 hitters only get on base every other time. Thats like betting black or red in craps. RElax. It is where you wind up at the end of the season that counts. It was so important to the other coach to win he used 8 pitchers, totally screwed up his pitching rotation for the next week. So he recruits "we beat LSU, used 8 pitchers though, no we didn't win our conference!" What high school recruit who knows baseball would be impressed with that?

Don't worry about it. LSU is not going to start their best pitchers and are going to rest some players on a week night game. Just about any college team can be any other under those conditions, especially if the other team has at least one good starter. This is why they play a series to determine what team is better. I'm not loosing any sleep over it.

to me this says our midweek starters are not either playing up to their high school or jc level, or we were off in our evulations of them , and should have recruited other players. losing these mid weekers just gives the state colleges a recruiting base to possibly
grab a borderline player we would like. i would think this doesn't build winning traditions, nor build confidence. just MHO

I was at the game, not to make excuses for us, but Nichols could do no wrong in their fielding. Every ball bounced perfectly to them, one time we hit a line drive to the pitcher and he caught it as if he had done it 100 times before...

I remember Skip used to lose a lot of midweek games as well. It took me a while to understand that it was.... only a midweek game.

I think LSU should 1 up them and use 9 pitchers Friday... and then try again and put our pitchers in the field and let our fielders do the pitching... That will show them, yup it will

"It was so important to the other coach to win he used 8 pitchers, totally screwed up his pitching rotation for the next week."

Explain how using a pitcher or a number of pitchers for one inning "screws up " the rotation for the next week.

Adam--our hitting as strange to watch. Not just that we didn't get hits-we had a number of swings that were just really weak, like half swings or just try to to stick the bat out and let the ball hit it swings instead of taking a good, solid, normal cut.

I'll let this pass as misplaced frustration because it certainly isn't enlightened analysis. Mid-week is the time for experimenting with pitching and letting some loyal bench players get some playing time. Especially when you have just won your 9th dadgum SEC series in a row.

Exactly. Skip did this ALL THE TIME! And his teams did pretty well. Its really not that important of a game. We are worried about our conference series above all. Alot of these fans get pissed when we lose a meaningless game.

It is a sin and a shame that atheletes who are supposed to be the best players recruited and do not perform on the feild any better than they did last night. They should have went ahead and canceled the game and not played at all, that way they do not take a chance on getting hurt. What you saw last night was the future of our team. LSU is a major college and Nicholls St. is a small college. LSU is ranked #1 in the nation and last night they looked like a #150 ranked team. It looks to me like they do not have enough pride in themselves to represent their university any better than that. LSU should return everyones money back to them for even trying to show up for the game if you want to call it that. You have to wonder why they do not care, the players that is. That was a poor excuse for a game that I have ever seen. Our pitchers showed up but it was the offense that did not show up. Paul should not have played all those other players until he knew that the game was inhand. Les Miles dosen't play his second team to start a game it makes no difference who he plays. That is the way you are supposed to coach. Last night could very well be a big turning point in our season. He could have messed up the chemistry of the team by benching the whole starting team. He should of known by now who you can count on when you need runs. They have played 37 games and he should have the line-up he is going to use no matter who he plays, that way with every game the starters get better and better. But no he wants to experiment with this player and that player. You do not make whole sale changes to your starting line-up. You put a player in at different times during the game are when the need to arises not to just experiment not at this time during the season. Last night could have very well lost us a Super Regional. At this point of the season every game is important not just the conference games.

If what have I have said looks like I am mad at what happened out in that state of the art facility that they have to play in. It seams to me that they should have more pride in themselves in the students they represent and to the university which has given them the right to go out on that field every game and play to the very best of their ability and competing the way that a #1 ranked team should. There is no excuse that can be given for the way they played or coached last night. I just do not get it.

All of you can say what you want but it took Skip a long time and a lot of hard work to display in that very team that you give your dead level best each and every time you go out on that field and compete. I know that you win some and lose some but LSU is supposed to be the best program in the nation when it comes to baseball and last night they did not look like it. Coach Skip expected it, the players expected it, the fans expected it and all the teams across this nation expects it every time they pick up the paper see the score of LSU versus who-ever. We are supposed to be the best not just on weekends but every game no matter what!

It is just my opinion you have the right to voice yours. I think it is time that LSU Baseball gets back to the status that they are supposed be. I will always pull for my Tigers and Support them no matter what.

And its easy to find people who don't realize RPI in baseball =/= to RPI in basketball. It is one of many factors that are taken into account and this loss matter absolutely zero in the overall outcome of the season. Which is why coach PM wasn't going ballistic in the dugout like you all want him to be. It just doesn't matter all that much. An off night for a lot of our starters is much more important.

These people are the same ones that would bitch if one of our starters got injured during one of these games.

It has quite a bit to do with selection of the national seeds. Our already bad SoS goes downhill from here. We dropped by beating Grambling Tuesday, and we're not going to pick up much by sweeping Tennessee. Put it this way. We drop the next games to Tulane and ULL and we'd better win the SEC.
