Just got an email from LSU's new capital campaign for money

Here is the email:
And here is my response that will probably go ignored:
The email came from the LSU Foundation. Here is their email if you'd like to copy and paste mine, or send your own: annualgiving@lsufoundation.org
quote:
With the kickoff of our record-breaking LSU Campaign next week, we invite you to be part of the first LSU Giving Day. In honor of the year LSU was founded, we want 1,860 Tigers to join us in kicking off Giving Day. Celebrate this exciting new LSU tradition by using the quick online form to give as little as $5. Here’s how it works: On April 30, donors will give through the Giving Day website at geauxgive.lsu.edu. The site will track gifts in real time, allowing Tigers to view goal progression and participate in challenge gift competitions throughout the day. You can give to any college’s general scholarship or excellence fund, the LSU Fund, the Tiger Athletic Foundation, or the Alumni Association. No matter which fund you choose, you will provide extraordinary experiences for Tigers so they can go out into the world ready to change it.
And here is my response that will probably go ignored:
quote:
To whom it may concern:
I am a 2009 graduate of LSU and I love my alma mater dearly. It is a source of great personal pride for me to be an alumnus of such a fine university. I never waste an opportunity to share my experiences as a student with others. I follow all of LSU's athletic endeavors as well. I can't imagine any place better than a Saturday night in Death Valley, an afternoon at The Box, Booting Up in the PMAC, or sitting on the berm in Tiger Park.
I have reached a point in my career that I am now able to give back to causes and institutions important to me. I fully intend to start doing so. However, as much as I bleed purple and gold and love my alma mater, I will not give any money back or participate in any fundraising activities at this time. I am disgusted and embarassed at the abject lack of leadership and overwhelming incompetence displayed by President F. King Alexander and Athletic Director and Vice Chancellor Joe Alleva. I feel any dollar I give to LSU at this time is tacit approval for their comedy of errors and I unabashedly and vehemently do not support their regime of shame. The manner in which they have chosen to handle Coach Will Wade is but the latest example of their incompetence and I will not ignore it anymore.
As an alumnus, I firmly believe neither Alexander nor Alleva have LSU's best interests at heart -- they are embarrassments of the highest order; therefore, I will not donate a single cent while either one of these individuals is still affiliated with LSU in any capacity. They bring shame to what is an otherwise amazing institution. I look forward to the day I can open my checkbook and give back to LSU, but that time is not now, and I assure you I am not alone.
Respectfully yours,

I will not give them another dime until Alleva and King are gone. Period

Ditto.
It's laughable that LSU is choosing to ask alumni for donations while mired in multiple scandals, at least two of which involve misappropriation of funds.

I stopped giving after their mid Aggie game decision to not fire Miles. The moment Alleva and King are gone...I’ll give again.

My reply to the email:

It is mind boggling how tone deaf this administration is.

I hope they get hundreds of these emails

It shows such a gross disconnect.
Like Alleva bowing to some national sports blowhards. They don't afford him job security. He pissed off the local and regional people who do affect his job security.
Whatever, I'm certainly no OT baller, but I stand by what I said. Once F King and Alleva are gone, I'll happily donate. But LSU doesn't get a cent from me until that time.

Why would they launch the campaign now? What would it hurt to push back the launch of the campaign to a more appropriate time??? For me, it won't matter. I won't give until Alexander and Alleva are gone, but the lack of awareness it takes to launch it right now is staggering.

I received the same email. I'm going to copy and paste your response, insert my graduation year, and send it as my reply as well.
I suggest everyone who reads this thread and received that email to reply with this message also. Let's do this!
RA'd for a sticky.

By no means do I think people should share something as personal as what they would donate, but I would be interested to know what the cumulative total of missed donations due to this.

Is the email being sent only to alumni? I am not an alumnus but I am on LSU’s email list for other reasons. I would like to send a similar response.
