But half of the team didn't get into a fight. Stop trying to ignore that fact that a situation occured. So the guys who went out and stayed over at a friends house, staying out of trouble should have the same punnishment as the guy fighting.
(If a fight did occur).
Man some people don't see the big picture. The other players, did not injure and or get caught involving themselves in any illegal activities

Hmmm. Good point. Much better than other pubescent posters on here. Miles would have to figure the severity of punishment based on the consequences of the actions of his players. 4 players who had to go to the police obviously did more harm to the team than the guys who went to a friends house and played Xbox. JJ being a senior leader, drew much more negative attention than the others who were hauled down to the police station by their lawyer. JJ's punishment should be more severe. Yanking his starting role would be a helpful addition to his current punishments in that "the starting quarterback" is no longer being questioned by police for kicking some drunk guys head and causing 3 cracked vertebrae in his neck (or whatever the current consensus is on the victems injuries).

He at the bare minimum broke team rules and didn't adhere to the curfew that was established to keep him out of this situation.
In the name of all that is holy, some of you Start Lee homers are dense.
We've been over this 1000 times.

The players were out after a curfew imposed by the coaching staff when the fight took place. However, LSU athletics spokesman Michael Bonnette said players traditionally conclude fall camp, which this year ended last Thursday, by socializing together after curfew. Bonnette said that tradition has spanned the tenures of a number of coaches.

I'm sure recruits would be flocking to play for a coach that suspends players on the basis of questionable allegations.

Oh my bad, I didn't realize that breaking team rules were ok. The consequences of breaking such rules would be ok, including going to the police stations, causing public humiliation to the program, university in general, causing the coach to have to make public apologies to the media etc...
Once again, you have to figure in the entire situation and events that occured. I personally think it's justified to let him sit out the first series of the game.

JJ was not involved directly in the fight IMO.

ETA: I think Miles knows who's going to star the game, he's just keeping Oregon (and the nation) guessing.
Bingo.
And even if he doesn't know who's going to start, Les is a smart poker player and knows that it benefits him to be "honestly deceptive" and keep Oregon guessing right up until game time.
What good would it do Miles to suspend JJ now? Why give Oregon any advantage from not having to prepare to defend against a running QB?
Love JJ or hate JJ, it is always to LSU's benefit to force other teams to prepare to defend against all our options. Auburn was more than happy to keep opponents guessing about Cam's eligibility right up until kickoff. Taking an option completely off the table 10 days from kickoff is stupid and unnecessary when the police have yet to conclude their "fact finding mission".
I, for one, am sick and tired of many of the JL fans starting thread after thread because they can't contain their enthusiasm over JJ's legal troubles. Go fap somewhere else.

There were alot of players who broke curfew, so doubtful Miles will suspend them all. It's possible Miles is making his decisions based off of statements his players have given him that we are not privy to.

Reading comp fail, brah.
The players have been breaking curfew on that night en masse for well over a decade. Before Miles was coach.
You want to suspend JJ for a curfew violation that occurred on the same night every year since the beginning of time?

I personally think you are in favor of any outcome that gets Lee under center.
Your homerism and bias is duly noted.
Why don't you let the police do their job finding out what the facts are.
The curfew argument is dumb and lame. Only the true Lee homers are continuing to beat that dead horse.

I would imagine so. Making JJ start the second series would be a consequence of his actions in my opinion. It would say "you are a senior leader of this team, if you can't handle that responsibility, then go scowl at the water cooler again."

This.
If Les suspended everybody who broke curfew Thursday night, we'd lose to Oregon by the largest margin in the history of ever.
Which makes the OP's argument even stupider.
He just wants Miles to single out JJ so that he can get his wish and get Lee under center.
Beyond pathetic.

You need to stop posting until you hear all of the facts. All you have now is "what if". From what I understand nearly half the team was at that bar so should we suspend all of them for breaking team rules too? And suspending players for talking to the police is ridiculous. The only reason JJ talked to the police is because he was easily the most recognizable face there and will therefore receive more attention from the witnesses. What if JJ was the one who kept the fight from getting out of hand by controlling the other players and being the voice of reason? It's obvious that you want Lee to start but JJ obviously gives us the best chance to win otherwise the coaches (who know more about football then everyone on this board) wouldn't have him as the starter.

What actions?
Questionable allegations that are looking shadier (pun intended) each day? Especially now that sources are saying that he wasn't even involved in the fight?
Do any of you guys think more than five minutes in the future?
Let's say Miles suspends Jefferson today and two days after Oregon, the police come out and say Jefferson is cleared of all wrongdoing. What's the next five star recruit going to think when Miles sits on his parents' couch and tells the kid that he'll support him through thick and thin?
shite. Other SEC coaches would be lining up at the border to tell Louisiana kids that Miles will drop you the second things get rough.

So by ur logic we should suspend any player that was at shadys that night. You are not seeing the big picture
