Josh Williams or Kaleb Jackson?

I keep seeing comments like “Nuss and Kaleb finna eat” across the board that I sort of just assumed “ah guess all the other backs from last year graduated and Kaleb is the presumed starter” so I looked up the roster to be sure and yup Cain and Diggs are gone… but Josh Williams in his 6th year of eligibility is still here! He was RB1 in 2022 and RB2 last year behind Diggs. I get that Kaleb was fantastic as a freshman and is expected to make a leap in year 2 but is the general consensus that he’ll jump Williams for the starter?
Last years stats for comparison:
Williams - 55 carries 284 yards (5.2 avg); 14 catches 194 yards (13.9 avg); 6 TDs 478 total 6.9 yds per touch
Jackson - 31 carries 165 yards (5.3 avg); 6 catches 53 yards (8.8 avg); 4 TDs 218 yards 5.9 yds/touch
I hope that Jackson makes that sophomore step, but even still I’d be surprised if he is completely dominating Williams for playing time. At the very least I’d expect heavy rotation. But I’m curious if any think that Jackson will be the definitive main dog next year?

From a pure skill standpoint, Jackson and it's not even close.
Last year Williams knew blocking assignments better. The hope is Jackson knows the playbook now and can play about 60% of snaps, with 25% going to Williams, 15% split by Emery and Durham.
This of course only applies for tight games. Blowouts/non competitive parts of games you'll see a lot more Emery and Durham.

Going to need both. But ideally, Jackson takes the majority of the carries and runs with it. But you have to have more than one guy.

Jackson is a beast of untapped potential… he would rather run over you than avoid you. We are gonna be very run heavy this year. Gonna need both.

Kaleb Williams is the real deal be is a grown Azz man with all the tools to take it to the house in under 4.8 with pads .
If his blocking, mental toughness improves he will be a three down back . The freshman from Duncanville will eat , Josh has been around a long time knows all the tricks of trade DEPENDABLE !!! And smart .

Matt Langlois for RB
This is a joke, right? Langlois is no longer on the LSU football roster. His past number #28 are taken by Bernard Causey on defense and Kaleb Jackson on offense.

Williams is the starter. As a six year guy he's more physically developed, knows the program and understands what's going on around him. The only knock is that he lacks top end speed.
Sitll, tough as nails runner, great receiver, and will lay a blitzer out on his back in the blocking scheme.
Hoping for Hester 2.0 this season, or maybe something close.

No one blocks like Josh Williams. He is proof that dedication and heart and being team first can go a long way than just natural physical abilities

Who would you not want to try to tackle? That’s your answer.

Well no one in this board would want to have to tackle either one. If I had to pick probably Josh.

It would not surprise me that Williams remained the “starter” all year but Jackson gets more carries.
When Williams announced that he was returning, my very first thought was that he will be another coach to help Jackson with pass protection and the playbook (if needed).

Williams is a winner, reliable, and will make the play you need when you need it. Even if it is without the ball in his hands.
Jackson is the first LSU RB since Guice to be in that Hill, Fournet, Guice mold. A true “home run” threat with great power and speed. You have to give him at least 15 touches a game. If so, there’s a good chance he will break a few of them for a big gain

People don’t like this but it’s true.
A sophomore isn’t starting game 1 over a sixth year guy who’s started the last 4 games last year. That doesn’t mean it can’t change or that Jackson might get more rushes against USC…
But Williams is the starter

ion think people are gonna want to tackle this

You start the guy who presents more problems for a defense and that’s Jackson. Williams is a great complimentary player but nobody’s dropping an extra man in the box or adjusting coverage matchups to defend him.

This Williams will play simply because he knows pass pro, hot routes, and running lanes well and porobably best on the team. As said above, Jackson gets the talent vote.

On another note anybody got a guess when Emery is full go from injury rehab?
