Jefferson's problem isn't talent, ability, or intelligence.

It is consistency and awareness.

Of course they are going to let them all compete, but something extreme would have to happen for JJ not to be the starter for all of next year IMO. From a coach's perspective, I just don't see how you sit a senior who has won that many games. Well, Coach T did it to Matt Sarenson, but Matt was only filling in in the first place, and JD was quite a passer, plus there was all of this pressure from different factions, and anyway Coach T let Matt play WR which worked out and then he became an artist which was his true passion in the first place.

one thing that people are overlooking is how many drops there were. and many of them were critical to keeping a drive going. that would have significantly affected jefferson's stats.

having said that, i think that in one sense, jefferson is very consistent. we've definitely seen enough of jefferson to know that he doesn't have good pocket presence. there was a play at the beginning of the a&m game where the aggies loaded the right side of field. there was one defender on two lsu receivers on the left side. several people in our section were screaming it out. jefferson went to the right side on the play. that kind of thing has gone on all season. but, the most obvious is the fact that if the primary receiver isn't open, he is going to abandon the pass and try to run. that's great some of the time but, he's passed up wide open receivers more often than not.

as athletic as he is, he just doesn't have the "sense" that the great qb's have.
