To paraphrase Bill Walsh, who knew more about quarterback play than me, you, or anyone else in the world...quarterback play is largely a function of the offensive system in place, and the coach running the system. No one can predict accurately what Jordan will do next year with so many negative variables hovering over the program now.

Jeffersons mechanics remind me of Rohans, and thats not a bad thing.

You can blame the coaches for the woeful offensive line production. That line would've made the best quarterback look mediocre, and it was up to the coaches to correct this.....and they failed.

The thing I really like about Jefferson is the fact that he can extend the play and get first downs with his legs.

Hopefully Crowton will be able to put together schemes that play to Jeffersons strengths. The option will never work with Jefferson, that will be Sheps territory.

There is just too much talent on this team to not be optimistic about the future.

I don't see how a move at OC can hurt his development. He doesn't seem to be much different from the start of the season to now. Maybe a new QB coach would breath some new life into him. At least they could maybe teach him how to step up in the pocket like I watched Lefevour do all game last night.

Jordan Jefferson Will Be A Stud Next Season
He had the 5th highest QB rating in the SEC this season as a 19 year old. With an overhauled offensive line, his numbers will only improve.

I expect good things in the future for Jefferson and the Tigers.

With Gonzales, Randle, Shepard, Toliver, Ford, Calhoun, Murphy, a new offensive line, redshirted skill players from '09 and incoming skill players for '10, Jefferson and the offense have no where to go but UP.
That, plus Chavis' second year and some potentially great defensive players keeping the offense rested, should at least keep us in contention for the West this year.

No way. If anything the coaches deserve more on their shoulders. Also, you can't split the o-line and QB. We had one of the worst rushing offenses in the fricking country this year. Can't put that on the QB. You don't pass to set up the run. You run to take the pressure off of your young QB.

this is old school football speak.
Dont always apply anymore.

An offense dictates what the defnese has to defend, especially on the talent level of schools like LSU.

JJ is just as much to blame as oline and the coaches.
Only reason I said coaches catch more heat is b/c they get paid.

These are college athletes, not professionals. Coaches have an enormous responsibility to develop the players, as they are still learning the game.

Probably the reason the offense was limited in some respect. He will have his chance to get better. I would put 20-25% on JJ. He had issues reading the D, among other things. Limited the offense.

JJ also didn't have an experienced QB to learn behind or a decent QB coach. Hopefully those things can be overcome in the offseason.

I don't know about "stud" (in the sense of JR or Tebow or Colt McCoy or Sam Bradford), but I think JJ is talented enough to help us compete for the SEC West next season—and you can't get to the NC or the SECCG without winning your division.

I'm betting that ultimately Jefferson will be considered a B-level QB: above average but not elite. I don't know that he'd ever be the best QB in the SEC, but he could be #2 or #3 by his senior year. And frankly, you don't have to be the best QB in the world to get to the SECCG (John Parker Wilson, Matt Mauch, etc.).

I'm more focused on our o-line: they're the real key to our offense next year and in 2011.

this, good coaches know to make the weak link beat you...Hence, no run game came from opposing teams coaches calling for run stoping defenses, (bump and run, 8-men in the box, Pinching the middle of the defense line, d-line slanting left and right w/back side blitzing linebacker) making JJ beat them...They knew he couldnt throw the ball downfield so they kept their safeties up closer...All designed to stop the run...

Exactly, heres the scenario "the first series the Defense comes out and puts 8 in the box do you still run? Because by his point you have to run the ball to setup the pass? Why? you already know the play wont go anywhere b/c they have a run stopping formation! are you gonna just run into a pile of bodies?...well, we did most of the time...5 o-lineman cant block 6-7 guys...not plausible...Opposing D-Coord's did this all year.
