Moscona'a horrific basketball hot takes are the literal reason I stopped listening to his show. He doesn't even watch the games and still chimes in. Much like several posters in this thread.

D-League Randy Livingston barking commands from the bench..a nice add to the staff..and a respected local voice that maybe can get JJ to let him do some work..as Musselman Jr etc..weren't allowed to share their knowledge?
Seems as if JJ knows he is a few strikes into his coaching span, and finally open to some helpful X&Os?

Almost all of those quality wins last year came at home. LSU couldn't beat anyone (except Vandy and Alabama) away from home. That's what sunk them along with a weak OOC schedule (3 worst in the SEC)
2 years ago LSU made the tournament because they went 8-3 on the road with wins at WVU, Ole Miss, Vandy, Arkansas.
Jones has never scheduled well in terms of OOC games. This year they already missed two chances to get wins away from home (VCU and WSU). Besides the SEC, TTU and Wake are all that is let. I think they have to win at least one of those
Last night was a good win. But if they can't beat Wake and/or TTU, they are going to have to really pile up the wins in conf. play. 11-7 in conf. play with loses to the top SEC teams won't get it done

Gee d30, how about playing better. Manipulating the schedule to get a 12 v 12 game is just an early out.
I have feeling you are usually a football/baseballl guy. Would you rather LSU plays in the AAC football conf? They could be the undefeated G5 ranked #6.

True, the play of the team has been largely underachieving under CJJ, especially given he's been fortunate enough to preside during his 4 plus years here during the weakest time in SEC hoops since the early 70's.
But the schedules still have sucked. I see no upside in playing so many weak teams. We play one holiday tournament a year against decent competition and the rest of the OOC has been mostly garbage under Johnny. I don't think that helps a team prepare for conference play.

Agree that we need to schedule better competition pre SEC. Do more home and homes like Wake Forest. Do away games if can't get a home game. I wonder if some of it is due to money issues with travel and home revenue lost.

Other teams do it. They have a tough schedule out of conference and lose those games and then are on the bubble after conference play. We also seem to come to play when we play elite teams anyway.
And yes, we needed to play better.
