It's not a homerun hire but it's a good hire. I don't see why anyone would melt over this.

Saban was mediocre before coming to Baton Rouge. Coaches have to be in the right place, have the right assets and the right opportunities to really excel.

In 5 years he has had twice the CWS appearances that Bianco has had in 21 years.

He had some average years, true. But I think it’s silly to conflate where our football program was in 2000 with where our baseball program is now vis a vis the coaching candidates we go after.

Also, Nick Saban is possibly the goat. It’s like bringing up Belickick’s record with the Browns before the Pats hired him as a “you never know” scenario.

People are going to pretend to be super excited but he was 67-58 in conference up until this year when he went 21-9 and he’s been on the west coast his entire career

This is a risky hire at best.

There were a ton of people banging a drum for Bianco, but Johnson has taken his team to the CWS 2 times in 5 years, as opposes to once in 21. Give the guy a chance.

Go back and actually look at his record before coming to LSU. Then when you know what you’re talking about, get back to me.
