Johnson had a few average years at AZ

The fact that he missed the regionals 2 seasons and he was 10-5 before Covid is concerning. I’m behind him since he’s the guy we went with, but I’d be lying if I said I was comfortable with this hire.

Countless posts on here explaining this. He took a bandaid juco roster that hadn’t been to the postseason in 3 years to the CWS finals in 2016. Then the roster was gone and he rebuilt a traditional roster, which a few years later is raking and in Omaha.
You’ll like his style and the talent he brings in.

People are going to pretend to be super excited but he was 67-58 in conference up until this year when he went 21-9 and he’s been on the west coast his entire career

Every guy in their lineup this year batted over .300. Starting pitching appears to be lacking looking at stats. I’m sure he’ll do fine and if he doesn’t win, he’ll get fired.

Way I understand it over there is he had to build the program back up with recruiting. That's why you had the few years with a lull between. When he did build it back up, they had their success.
