Chris Vernon on local ESPN affiliate was discussing J. Martin's development for the Grizzlies. In that context, he said that anyone that was good at LSU should be able to be developed further.

He followed that up with saying Jones doesn't know what he is doing and our program is a mess. Our players are like chickens running around with heads cut off. Don't know what plays to call and don't even know if we have timeouts. LSU players doing what they are doing on talent alone. Have the no.1 player and will take him to the NIT. Then he started laughing.

I know it's only Chris Vernon. But with the WSJ and other national news articles pointing out how bad we are, we are a laughing stock.

I don't see how Jones can survive not making the tournament despite having the best player in the NCAA.

It would be a failure of epic proportions.

This has been our program's trademark regardless of the coach. Undisciplined, out of control, no game situational awareness.

Holds true for:
JJ
TJ
Brady
Dale

no comment on who you are listening to.

But I wonder, just wonder, if somehow someway this LSU Basketball team turns it around how many of these talking heads will man up and give the coach some credit.

This sounds oddly familiar.

First couple of games were a little better but it was like boom, back to the same shite as last year.

We talking about football or basketball? Seems like a common trend. I'm guessing baseball will be undisciplined, poorly coached and underachieving this upcoming season.

administration just doesn't place the premium on basketball like it has on baseball and to a lesser extent, football. JJ can recruit. He needs to be an assistant.

It's hard to envision LSU investing significant assets in a basketball coach given the current fiscal situation and the recent uproar over the (privately funded) Miles buyout. Maybe I'm wrong, though.

It's funny a thread about a Memphis radio host bashing Johnny Jones gets so much applause and upvotes

This. My bro-in-law has been wanting him fired since last year and I keep trying to explain this to him and he just doesn't get it.

When the folks that forced his hire (the Temple/Brown faction) get upset with him then you'll see the needle move, not until then. And when Temple's upset you'll know, he'll go to the papers like he always does.

Even if they play up to potential we have already shot ourselves in the foot.

I can't understand how Dale Brown can sit quietly in the stands watching Jones stand in front of the bench with a puzzled look. Did Temple and Brown bother to check out a game at North Texas in person before recommending Jones?

Dale likes Johnny. Shaq loves Johnny, Ricky, Collis, and Rudy like Johnny. Everybody likes Johnny...that's how he got this job, it certainly wasn't on his resume.

Dale will never turn on Johnny IMHO, but I wouldn't be surprised if CT2 does.

We will turn it around someday...when a new coach is actually sitting on the sideline doing his job.

You wanna hold your breath til then?

But he's a nice guy and good recruiter. He should be given at least one more season to turn it around.
