It’s not like Johnny is a threat to take Will’s job. Johnny is all LSU and so is Wade. It could work out ok.

Yeah. Its just he's not a tactician. If anything Johnny would've been most useful for McMahon except McMahon was so bad Johnny actually would have been a threat.

Recruiting has very little value in basketball anymore, and he is a fricking atrocious X and O coach. He’s as bad as they come in that regard and just brings very little value to a P5 staff in 2026.

My stance is that Louisiana is underrated when it comes to basketball talent and while Wade probably has enough on his own can’t hurt to have him as that would open up the temple crew to helping instead of staying on the sidelines

Louisiana is political and Johnny is political as it gets. We should definitely own instate recruiting with he and WW. I imagine this is Johnny’s last job. His wife is from Baker. His kids grew up here mostly as well.

What a wild time. Brady on the radio broadcast. Wade back as HC, with Jones on staff!

Gotta have a 18 yr reunion for the '09 team so we can get Trent to a game for a group picture.

As long as Coach Jones isn’t in charge of timeout usage, I’m okay with it.

I’m not sure anyone has ever told him timeouts don’t roll over game to game.

I'm just going to assume he has forgotten more about basketball than you know.

If Wade wants him on his staff, I have no issues with it.

It’s not really about recruiting LA. It’s opening up the wallets of people in LA. Jones can help with that…unless you are one of those naive folks who think Wade was the only one cheating and Martin, Mickey, Quarteman, Simmons, Blakeney, etc at went to LSU just because it had nice dorms.

Irrelevant in the NIL age. It’s bout one thing and it’s not loyalty or relationships.

Or that players don't foul out after 2 fouls in a half.

If you got 2 fouls in the first half, you were on the bench for the remainder of the half. No matter what.

In recruiting? Sure.

Let’s be honest, it doesn’t really matter if he knows more than the collective of his entire fricking board when it comes to Xs and Os. You could find a lot of GA‘s and end of bench coaches for Low Majors that know more about offensive basketball than Jones and he 100% proved that in his time as our head coach.

He is not a valuable part of a major college basketball bench staff in 2026. This is not like college football. Basketball is still limited to five bench coaches, which means only four assistants. The two allowed off bench staff cannot recruit off campus.

GDamit General, DON'T load your Staff up with "Used Car Salesmen" that can't coach WAF.

WE don't need any more of that BS at LSU.

Absolutely you get money off the sidelines but temple tyrus thomas etc have all been heavily involved with the AAU circuit and I think about UH. They have had a TON of guys with LA ties over the last several years. Can’t hurt to have some help getting in on them early

If he can drum up an extra few mil in NIL from donor connections, it’s well worth it IMO.

You act like recruiting isn’t needed. Just about all the big boys are offering the same players around the same amount of money. If anything with NIL you need proven recruiters more so than before.

Additionally I think for a non basketball school like lsu to identify under the radar guys to fill out the rotations and roster.

I think it's just time to just trust Wade and the rest of the administration. If JJ is the choice, there's a reason.

Those saying that in the age of NIL, relationships don't matter, are being foolish. There are always advantages to having the relationships.

You also have to just trust the Lake Chuck group...they aren't doing this with intent on failing.
