Dude, it's Bad Cat. He has no clue what he's talking about. Apparently it's logical for him that Landry is faster and more experienced than Mahtook, so he should start next year in CF.
Yet Mahtook started over Landry in CF as a freshman, and had less experience than he'll have next year and the exact same speed he'll have next year.
But somehow it's clear to him Landry > Mahtook. Rantardation at it's finest.

A few thoughts I found on Heathcott from several Yankee Fan sites;
"Although there are no concerns about his intensity on the field, some teams have been scared off by character issues. Heathcott’s father is in prison on drug charges and his mother is out of his life for similar reasons, which is an obvious red flag. He was also ruled academically ineligible for the playoffs last month."
I don't know the guy and can only hope if he is that talented he finds a way to get over these "character" issues and becomes successful either with the Tigers or Yankees.

I'll go out on a limb and say that Landry starts in center this year and Dean starts at first.
I think the idea behind Mahtook starting in Center was because Leon wasn't hitting didley off of lefties...Mikie gave us a steadier bat who could hit off of either righties or lefties. I know what you're thinking, then why didn't Landry play center when he came in when we faced right handed starters. I think the most logical answer is that when you change the line-up in the lefty righty situation, you change it as little as possible. Also Mikie was going to play every game and most at center so you let the freshmen play in a comfort zone and stay there.
No bashing Mikie at all! The kid is solid. He made one spectacular catch in the first game of the CWS...but who's to say Landry wouldn't have made it look easier? Also...are we forgetting the MANY ridiculous catches Landry has made for us over the past two seasons?
Either way, both are great outfielders...but IMO Landry is better defensively in center.

No. No. No.
Look, Leon is a very talented outfielder, but a lot of his tremendous plays were a result of him misplaying the ball and then using his speed to catch up.
Mahtook has better instincts, and as a result, can actually cover more ground than Leon in center.
If I have equal talent in center, give me the one with better baseball instincts. By this, Mahtook > Landry...in CF.

I guess we'll see when it comes time for some Tiger dominance in baseball again (aka the next season haha). I could be utterly wrong...I do not claim to be an expert.
Also I know this is just one example but did you see the catch he made in left against texas? I don't think mikie gets that...I def think he in no way misplayed that ball....ps mikie may have gotten it. It just seemed like Leon was moving asap...no missed judgements there.

True, it was a great play, but using that play in left to justify his talent in center isn't valid.

haha...fair point. I was an infielder...my reactions in outfield sucked! I think PM knows better than either of us who the best is. I will be a man and admit I am wrong if Mahtook starts in center. I think either would be great and the fact that we are arguing which great defensive outfielder should start over the other in center is something most teams can only dream of. Either way...LSU wins number 7 next year...book it! You heard it hear first
