Cool...let's ride!

So basically Diaco is the special teams coach with Jancek having name in title? Don’t mind it actually

There are enough elite ST coordinator's out there, that LSU could've got instead of trying to piece it together. I do like Bob Diaco, but this seems strange to me

Sounds like it.

Also kind of seems like Kelly is stacking the analyst room with people with coordinater experience. Wonder if he’s stacking the cupboard in the event that House gets a HC offer he can’t refuse.

If he wanted to get another coach on the defensive line this was the only way to do it.

I’m a little underwhelmed by the hire as well but now that analysts can do everything an on field coach can do I don’t think it’s as strange as it appears on the surface.

I guess it doesn't at Georgia either or a bunch of other schools who don't have on field special teams coaches

Isn't Scott Cochran their ST coach?

I get your point, but those teams don't need a complete overhaul in ST. Ours is so bad I figured they'd bring in a coach for it just for the sheer lift to bring it back to average.

He stepped away from coaching to go to rehab.

That's really interesting. I like the new rule. This makes more sense now.

Yep, reading between the lines here, this is the point. House or BK must've wanted more help on the DL

I think our special teams would’ve improved this year regardless with added depth. I like these moves, gives added help to our pass rush and we still get a special teams coordinator even if his title is analyst.

Depth isn't the reason we had blown assignments constantly. We had good players on ST making bonehead errors. That is coaching not preparing the guys properly.

This isn't Ed. Granted, kelly isn't infallible and is capable of making bad hires, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt here. He hasn't shown the tendency to make an "easy" hire here yet.

rule changes from the NCAA that allows all the analysts to be hands-on at practice.

Ah

This makes sense, should've read the thread. Diaco has done ST in his past and Kelly seems to trust him.

It says he interviewed many strong candidates and went this way. Lazy would not be interviewing anyone not even the guy you are hiring. That is lazy

Diaco and other analyst will coach special teams

Most of our problems was lack of quality depth and getting better players as return men

Hiring Polian in the first place was lazy.
