I say this as I’m drunk at a hotel bar in downtown New Orleans and Bryce Young deservedly wins the Heisman

What strikes me is how meh of a season this has been for the Heisman race m. I mean he’s really good, but in any given year it’s a different race.

I said the same thing. I honestly had no idea who was invited to NY. I assumed Young was but I never heard anything definitive and I didn't hear who the other candidates were either.
But Saban's his coach and it sure wasn't going to go to a defensive player or the QB from Pitt.
ETA: I had to watch his Heisman speech again. Still brings out tears. Love that kid.

I never found myself being impressed with him, after watching him struggle in multiple games against underwhelming opponents, and having almost zero running ability. Seems like another Alabama QB who benefited from being able to stand around in the pocket for as long as he wanted until someone got open. This year's Heisman race was awful.
Joe's incredible season is even more impressive when you consider that a guy like Bryce Young didn't put up numbers even in the same neighborhood of Burrow, and Joe did it behind a terrible offensive line (though not as terrible as this year's line). His quick reads and unpredictability made up for it, as teams had no idea where the ball was going.
