Sorry I don't see it this way. No press conference on Tuesday or especially wed when everyone knew something was up. Thursday he waited 3 hours after the UF news conference and finally had one at 6 when it couldn't be carried by the SEC network.

And today he sould have been all over ESPN and Finebaum today telling what really happened.

I haven't been a fan. But under the circumstances I think he did fine. You can not play hard ball when people's safety is involved.

He is a passive, CYA " deer in the headlights" type AD.

Bottom line is that Miami vs Florida state is going to be played Saturday night and LSU can't even play a game in gainsville that wasn't effected by the storm!

Peoples lives aren't at risk now around Gainesville. Where was the news conference today saying we're willing to fly in Monday and play? Outside of LSU fans most people don't know we even made these offers because of our shitty PR.

Exactly. Every other game in Florida is being played...except LSUs. Why?

Jesus LSU fans suck.

Everything negative is Miles/Allevas fault. Everything positive is in spite of them.

I agree that he has said a lot of nice things lately...BUT an exemplary AD would not have let this happen, and would have fired les at the end of last season

Was he supposed to force Foley and Stankey at gunpoint?

He's supposed to use the media as a weapon in situations such as these. Get out in front of the story and spin it in such a way that the SEC and Florida don't have a choice but to do it his way.

What was he supposed to do? Florida played the shite to the letter. They used a natural disaster to collect insurance money. They had the upper hand from the jump. He did what he needed to do without causing a stain on LSU. I might not care for him personally.... But he handled this situation as well as it could have been handled. SEC commissioner did us. He was fresh meat and the Gator's ate. And ate well.

Exactly. If I was the AD for LSU, I would have been on every media outlet that I could, and I would have started Wednesday when uf started to show their pussies

bottom line: he hasn't been killing anything

It would've been so easy. Make a public statement saying that

"LSU is sending planes and busses for UF players, staff and family. We have housing accommodations arranged for them and all proceeds of this game will be given to the hurricane relief fund. We will do everything in our power to make them feel as home as possible. Our hearts, thoughts and prayers are with the state of Florida right now"

Make that statement on every news network nationwide that will listen on Tuesday night or Wednesday morning and then watch Florida try to squirm their way out.

That's how an AD gets something done. They don't get shite done by saying "please mr. SEC Sir. Please don't put it in my arse again. It really hurt last time."

It's his reluctance to go national with Florida's cowardice that is allowing LSU to be painted the villain right now.
What would you like him to say? He's already said he did everything he could to get the game played this weekend. He's already said that whoever leaked the story about us declining the 11/19 offer is a "balled face" liar. What else do you want him to say?

Most of the ESPN idiots like fricking Paul Finebitch only care about rescheduling this game right now. They don't care that Florida canceled. They know that Florida declined to play the game this weekend. They don't care and there's nothing else Alleva can say to get the people who don't care to care. They just want to know when this thing is getting scheduled.

So I ask you again, what would you say to convince the fricking morons at ESPN to all of the sudden care about why the game wasn't played this weekend?

He was told Wednesday by Florida that the game was on in Gainsville. It was Thursday when things started turning. Alleva spoke that evening about what happened in the discussions.

I haven't heard him tell the media and the SEC that Florida's refusal to play constitutes a forfeit.

That's the primary point he should be making.

Either they man up and play Monday or they forfeit and lose.

But it wasn't. That was just a stall tactic. And the SEC and Aleva let it work in UF's favor.

Go on any and every TV and radio network that will have him on and state that Florida's refusal to play constitutes a forfeit.

You can't do anything now. You've already lost. The final whistle has blown. He should've gotten out in front of the story. I've already posted on this page exactly what he should have said and when he should have said it.

It's too little and too damn late now. Florida gets their cake and gets to make us look like the arse holes here.
