In no sane world should schools from New York, Maryland, and Florida be in the same conference as schools in California, Oregon, and Washington.

True in the past. However, football can be its own thing in this conference and they can play east/west divisons in all other sports.

FOOTBALL DIVISIONS (7 division/2 cross each year 1H/1A)

East:
1. Tulane
2. JMU
3. Memphis
4. USF
5. Army (FB only)
6. Navy (FB only)
7. UTSA
8. UNT

West:
1. Boise
2. SDSU
3. Oregon St
4. Wash St
5. Fresno St
6. Colorado St
7. Texas St
8. Utah St.

OLYMPIC DIVISIONS

East:
1. Tulane
2. JMU
3. Memphis
4. USF
5. UTSA
6. UNT
7. Wichita State (Olympic Only)
8. Colorado St.

West:
1. Boise
2. SDSU
3. Oregon St
4. Wash St
5. Fresno St
6. Texas St
7. Utah St.
8. Gozaga (Olympic Only)

This would consolidate the best of rest brands for football and limit travel regionally for olympic sports.

People always bring up Memphis but every time they are put on the table, they are almost always turned away unanimously. They look good on the field but their financials even with FedEx supporting them are horrible

If (when) the top ACC programs leave that conference, it is almost inevitable that the ACC and Big 12 will attempt to raid one another. If it's the Big 12 that loses members to the ACC, I have to imagine that Memphis makes the cut to backfill. I can't think of four better options - Washington State, Oregon State, and USF make sense. Maybe Colorado State or UNLV? It gets bleak pretty quickly.

I don't hate it. If Tulane can't get into a better conference I would rather the AAC/PAC merge. Not sure if they would 'kick out' the other schools.

Wonder if you would see something similar with C-USA/MAC/SUNBELT.
