I just watched the interview, he looked so confused, as if he had never heard the name Thomas Jefferson before. Seriously he's probably a descendant of Sally Heming how does he not know that?
he was nervous. That's clear to see.

I wouldn't know who Thomas Jefferson was if he walked into a room with an "I'm Thomas Jefferson" shirt on.

You clowns need to stop hating on JJ

I take up for JJ as much as the next guy and don't think this interview is that big of a deal.....but Its called American history....not white history.

+1 White and Black students sit in the same classrooms and are taught the same material.Let's just chalk JJ's answer to his being nervous and being in a place that he was not comfortable with at the time.Sometimes people just draw a blank or freeze up under certain situations.I'll just give JJ a pass on this one.(no pun intended)By the way, only 13% of US high school students know their US History according to test dubbed the Nation's Report Card released June 14, 2011.

Not hating, just pointing out the fact that no college educated person should ever miss that. It is disgraceful.

do you know how many college educated people miss questions like this? I don't think the majority of the frat boys know who T Jeff is.

so let me get this straight....he can run out on the field at Tiger Stadium (or any other SEC stadium for that matter)in front of 90k+ fans yelling and screaming, all the while remembering complicated football plays, evading future NFL defensive players (or at least trying to), and playing SEC level talent.......but it's too nerve wrecking to know who thomas jefferson is in a tv studio, after you've been given his last name.....

Yeah ok.....

Think before you speak, or at least know that an old white man isn't George Jefferson, star of an old tv show.

And for the record, if you asked me "Who is this famous Carver" and you showed me a picture of GW Carver...I'm betting the rest of my salary this year that I'd get that question correct.

Fletcher from KTBS just tweeted this under the pressure of having to perform and be funny no doubt

quote:

have no prob w/JJefferson saying it was George Jefferson on $5 bill, not Thomas. Thom is passe'; George? movin on up! Symbol of Success!!

Now Fletch KNOWS that Jefferson not is on the 5 dollar bill but he had a mind slip because he had to get out there first with it. See how that easy that was and he was just on twitter

When you're on the field, none of that matters. The football field is his comfort zone.

Being an unsuspecting participant on a game show isn't. Two totally different animals.

"I'm sure you could show me a picture of Taft and I would have no idea who he is.."

Taft is pretty easy. He's the fat one.

Ha Ha!! That's a funny premise - now let's look at two COLLEGE EDUCATED people commenting on something they clearly know nothing about - American History:

Take college educated Sarah Palin for instance musing on the Paul Revere story right next door to the Paul Revere historical site that Mr. Revere was warning the British that the British were coming to take their guns! LINK

Or maybe super constituional zealot college eduated person Michelle Bachman. Of particular interest to JJ is her understanding of American History as it relates to Emancipation. She actually thinks it was the founding fathers who worked tirelessly to end slavery! LINK

There's two of your potential Presidents demonstrating a strong command of American History!!

What about the actual president saying he visited 57 states?

Or Vice President Al Gore calling Michael Jordan "Michael Jackson" when asked about the NBA playoffs?

ohhhh, so that's what Thomas Jefferson was doing with his slaves! prepping them for life after the plantation.
