re: Jimbo will be on the hot seat before Oeaux

Why 3? Why not their entire head coaching careers?
how about this: in recent years, Jimbo is not looking like all that great of a coach. But as far as comparing the two, why don't we let this season play out then revisit this conversation.

Ben laughs in the face of the sobering fact that Jimbo scored more than twice as many points on Bama in one try than O has in three.
Yeah, there is even an asterisk but the L that notates points scored.

In all fairness didn't jimbo have an issue with the leadership of FSU which led to him mailing it in the last couple of years? Which that calls into question jimbos professionalism.
Good point. Jimbo quit on the program.

so an actual head football coach who made clear improvements in his first season isn’t as safe as a DL coach? granted - O is doing a great job, but I believe Jimbo could’ve done better the past 2 years. O deserves his opportunity to keep his job in 2019, but in my opinion, Jimbo should be the 2020 LSU head coach if we don’t get to 10-2

What if Jimbo goes 9-3 or 8-4 in 2019?

If Jimbo goes 9-3 with losses to Bama, LSU and Clemson that would be a pretty good year.
I think the only SEC Coach on the hot seat (unless someone has a terrible year) is Gus Malzahn. I don't see him surviving a 8-4 year. A loss to Oregon in the opening game means he'd have to beat LSU, Georgia, or Bama.

Going out on a limb here since we haven't seen Brady's results, but I think, right now, our football staff in total is better than A&M's.
O is not a better x’s and o’s Coach than jimbo but is every bit as (I believe) he’s more of a motivator than jimbo. He was a D-Line coach. Not a former DC or an OC... He is a good leader. One team one heartbeat means not just the players but Coach Aranda, and the rest of the coaching staff as well pulling the same rope.

Jimbo has a built in protection. His buyout. He can go 6-6 the next two years and be OK.

I guess LSU is lucky that you're not in charge then.

“ didn’t Jimbo have an issue”
He had people at FSU snickering behind his back and maybe even in front of him. It’s pretty obvious he wanted a change of scenery in the worst way.
Say what you want about Jimbo, but him beating Coach O last yr was a big scalp for him.
Troy L was less than two seasons ago.

quote:it's frightening that you're evaluating O based on his salary and prior (lack of) accomplishments as a head coach.
Right now O is achieving at an incredible level considering his salary and prehire standing.
And that's not what we were sold on. O was supposed to immediately elevate the program. No discount based on salary or "prehire standing." It's pathetic that you even consider those things.
The standard should simply be winning at a very high level: i.e., competing with Bama for the West, getting to Atlanta, and a playoff bid. That's it.

quote]Are you still going to be calling for jimbo to replace O when LSU wins 11 games this fall and jimbo wins 8? I bet you and a substantial number of people on this board will still be crying for Woodward to replace O with jimbo. I just hope I'm here to laugh at you.[/quote
Ok, here’s a link to my post history:
LINK
Take some time, browse through, and show me one time where I have called for Jimbo to replace O. In fact, just two days ago I responded to one of YOUR posts, saying it shouldn’t happen.
quote:
That’s what I’m hoping is not the case. I think LSU can do better than Ed Orgeron but to expect a new AD to clean house on day 1 is ridiculous...IF there are those actually calling for it. Regardless of my opinion of him as a coach he’s done enough to earn himself a few more years.
All I said was that A&M was closer to beating Bama than LSU was, which I based solely on how the teams played against them last year, and where the game is this year. I would not be stunned to see A&M beat Bama at home. I WOULD be stunned to see LSU beat them on the road.
That opinion could very well change when I see both teams on the field and a lot of that has to do with Joe Brady’s new offense.
The other day I made the comment that Tiger Ree loves to create “Imaginary monsters” that he can kill and claim victory. He’s not alone. You saw this:
quote:
A&M will beat Bama before we do, maybe as early as this year
And what you really read was “that a-hole wants O fired and Jimbo hired ASAP!” Which I had specifically said shouldn’t happen. Please stop making things up just so you can appear like the righteous fan crusader. You hate it when people call you an O guy, not an LSU guy the same way I get annoyed when someone accuses me of “hating” O just because I criticize SOME aspects of his coaching. Oh, and this:
quote:
Because jimbo isn't winning over 8 games this fall.
Is a stupid answer to the question. You know he did last year, right? You don’t think they’re capable of getting better, same way LSU has?
