My favorite from Saturday,

"Jefferson scrambles out of the pocket, had a man wide open, and now just throws it away..... AND IT IS CAUGHT!"

Think my favorite hawthornism is from last baseball season... "that's a swing & miss for a called strike 3"...

I think he does a good job with basketball and baseball, but he does mess up a lot in football games.

Nothing beats, "Caught! Caught! Touchdown! Jack Hunt! Caught it and scored!"

I almost fell off my couch when I saw that on Inside LSU Football. For those that don't watch the show, the best part is having the video highlights with Jim's audio. Unintentional comedy at it's finest.

Don't forget the 09 CWS championship call.

LSU went up 4-0, fell behind, and came back to win 11-4.

Lolz

Jim screwed up 2 out of 6 baseball championship calls.

I'm gonna have to agree. He's an assclown we can unanimously agree to laugh at.

what a whiney weenie....

I love Hawthorne..his 'mistakes' are only dramatic because he calls the does a such a great job on the making the game exciting to listen to on the radio...

so what if he misses a few calls...so do the refs, coaches, players, and yes, even smarty pants editors from Slate

I get the distinct impression he despises the basketball color guy

And the feeling is mutual from his color guy

There is an unmistakable air of contempt on the basketball broadcast

He's wrong. Jack Hunt was not a safety that year.

It would all be much funnier if he would ever retire, talk about staying in the game too long,we have a lot of first class things in LSU sports, but this guy's time passed 10+ years ago and I wish Mr Negative/senile would just retire and give someone else a chance...arrogance is a killer, just ask larry munson, joe pa, bobby bowden, isiah thomas, and to think JH never did have much game.
