And YOUR previous Gov had 8 years, did he fix anything. Yall just trying to find anything to bring Landry into to call him trash. Yes there are better candidates out there but none of them want to run bc people just trash you over some stupid stuff, you know like a tiger or something. Expecting Landry to have fixed all that crap you mentioned is downright silly. But go ahead, keep blaming him for all the existing problems. And yes, he will create some of his own as well.

I met John Schroeder at some fundraising event at Zephyr outside Wally Pontiff Classic way back when he was running for State Treasurer. He seemed to be a good no bullshite kind of guy.

I gave him my vote for Governor too.

Landy went to Oh La La for undergrad and Loyola Law School for his JD.

I am both Catholic and Conservative, old Reaganite. I did not vote in last Gubernatorial race because both were crap. I hope Garret Graves GOP congressman that Landry got rid of (Cleo Fields has that seat) runs against him in 4 years, either under GOP or Independent banner.

Landy has some sort of Forrest Gump or Rain Man issue. He is on the scale, what grown man in his 50's who did not attend LSU gets this worked up about having a Tiger in Tiger Stadium.

Yep, when Landry did all he could to make JBE's life miserable I was good with it cause when JBE made that statement about having to shut down LSU and football if he didn't get his economic plans passed, I was done with him.

Come to find out Landry's antics were really about trying to promote himself and had little real virtue or value. Which he has proven by his repeated forays into LSU business that he has no clue about and comes out looking like an arse.

Man, in a republican state that's about as staunch as it gets in that regard, he's even managing to piss his own constituents off...in droves. And he seems oblivious to it.

You do understand that John Bell Never threatened to shut down LSU football. He stated that if LSU didn't get the necessary funding then it would lose accreditation. If LSU lost accreditation then no member of any sports team including the football team would be eligible and therefore there would be no football or any other sport.

How has the whole "labeling everything you don't like as 'woke'" thing not run its course yet.

Regardless, the vets saying it's not a good idea to stuff mike in a cage and parade him around like a circus animal is not "woke". It has absolutely nothing to do with a politically-infused human rights cause.

It’s almost as bad as Edward’s sitting next to Coach O at the Heisman ceremony as if he were Burrows dad.

Yeah, but that was never a realistic or possible outcome and he knew it, and I think you probably do to. And he spouted that BS anyway.

Nobody expects him to fix everything in his first year. We do expect him not to waste time and resources on stupid shite.

ETA and it does seem like Landry has a couple of his minions responding in this thread, which doesn't surprise me. A narcissist like him would def. have this site on his radar.

You do realize that JBE is not longer Governor and that was a form of political grandstanding I agree. Just as Landry's Live Tiger in Tigerstadium.

But he did not threaten to shut down LSU, what actually happened was the funding bill for Higher ed was held up and he stated funding by perhaps April (Still in spring semester) would run out and many Instructors/Non tenure track faculty who teach many of the basic undergrad courses (lots of athletes in those courses) would be let go and athletes would not get the credits needed to be eligible. Summer school would have been cancelled, further complicating the situation and thus LSU athletes would have been academically ineligible.

Politically, not the best move, using LSU football to get the budget passed because that is the one thing that gets peoples attention. Traffic and roads, who gives a flip. But the issue here was a legitimate budget concern, although JBE using football as a political football not a smart move.

Landry was a pure political stunt for himself. I don't know what the Accreditation agencies say but this type of stuff where the Governor overrules the LSU BOS and President is the kind of stuff that could potentially harm LSU academically .

Here is a relevant quote:

"The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), the accrediting body for Louisiana’s public universities, requires that governing boards for its accredited institutions remain free from undue external influence." [article by Jessica Blake dated 6 June 2024 from Inside Higher ed]

So I am a longtime Conservative, as I noted above, and I supported Trump 100%. That does not mean just because Landry is GOP that he is beyond criticism, especially when his policies and decisions can hurt LSU.

To my earlier point, LSU and even Brian Kelly are taking a beating for doing this because most aren’t actually looking into the story and seeing it was our dumb arse governor that forced this. LSU takes all of the heat while he gets to hoot and holler about his anti woke W. A true Louisiana politician
