JD passing has improved, but there are still issues that may show up.

The long pass (34 yds) td was not that good. Jenkins was double cover, pass was thrown late and not well thrown. It was under thrown and amazingly JJ was able to split the 2 defenders, run back to catch it, and score
Not sure we'll have that kind of good fortune with the athletes Bama has, on poor throwing decisions
I love his progress to this point, but hope he progresses further on longer throws

It was under thrown but he's gaining confidence and at least he's letting it go.

That kid is playing at a very high clip right now, let's hope he continues to get more and more confident. He needs to just let it rip and not overthink it.

The complaint about JD early on was one-look and-run when he had receivers in routes 5yds-10yds open. Especially true of Boutte.

As he gains more confidence, he's making more of those throws.

The pass to Jenkins Saturday is an example of winging it out, and just giving our receivers a chance to make a play. It's something Kelly's been emphasizing. That particular throw is one JD would not have attempted in the Tennessee game. He's evolving.

I see it as a good thing, "a glass half full."

They will show up against bama. Bama has two weeks to plan. JD will simply have to beat them down the field passing if LSU is to win. Like Tenn, bama will shut the short passing down and run game. Like Tenn, he will have players running open over the middle all night. Let's see if he has truly progressed. It's easy to throw a swing pass to a wide open back/rec, but as we saw last Saturday still, he really struggles throwing the ball down field.

He is playing at a high clip on open swing passes. That wasn't the only deep pass he missed and got lucky. Also, his crossing routes are almost always behind. He (we) were fortunate last week but people tend to overlook with a W.

Bama has always struggled with mobile QBs. Especially when we don't have an idiot toss dive coach.

Guess you weren’t at the game…because the entire stadium saw Jenkinsnstandinf at the goal line open by 25 yards

It was underthrown on purpose, FYI.

Ole Miss ran a cover 3 with a huge blown assignment. Jenkins was the 4th read for Daniels. Jenkins was literally standing at the goal line waving his arms. Just from a pure logical concept, it was a 40 yard pass across the field to not a huge area. He couldn’t lead Jenkins or it was going out of bounds. He couldn’t throw it as hard as he can because few humans (even nfl guys) can throw essentially a 50 yard pass on a rope. So he threw a jump ball to a guy that had 2 receivers scrambling to fix their blown assignment and their backs to the ball.

He was not double covered he was open by 20 yards. The ball was late because Jenkins wasn’t his first read and he was open immediately. It was underthrown but the reason the two DB’s couldn’t make a play was because they were just trying to get to Jenkins and not able to be able to look for the ball.

In that situation the worst thing you can do is overthrow him so I am ok with just laying the ball up and let your WR beat their DB’s because more often than not LSU will win that battle. While not exactly an apples to apples comparison the play to Boutte on the first drive is a good example of why an underthrown ball is better most of the time. That’s a TD if he underthrows him because he was so open but he didn’t put enough air on the ball and Boutte couldn’t make a play.

There is much to be desired in the passing game, but at least he's letting it fly a little more while still being safe with it.

He wasn't double covered, he was wide open. JD threw the ball way lot and way underthrown, allowing two DBs to get into the area. The reason Jenkins made the easy play coming back to it is to DBs were running as fast as possible to get back to the space. If you watch the replay Jenkins is wide open by almost 10 yards when the ball is thrown.

He’s getting better, and has more confidence. That’s all that matters.

I’m not necessarily going to disagree that some of his passes aren’t all that great.

But here’s the thing, the fact that he’s airing it out and giving his receivers a chance is good enough in those situations. We’re not talking about NFL DBs he’s throwing at (most of the time). But he is throwing to NFL caliber WRs. Let the boys make a play. I don’t give a shite if that ball to Jenkins was under thrown. He gave his guy an opportunity and he came through. That’s more than enough with talent at WR.

As we have said, he does not see the field well. Lots of missed opportunities.

All true but everyone here is giddy about Ole Myth. He will have to play better to beat really good teams.

This is just stupid. He was late with the ball. Same on the PI involving Thomas. He is just not anticipating throws well at all.

I don’t think it’s a big secret that JD has limitations. Is he a championship qb? Probably not. But this could be a top 10-15 team with him at the helm and this roster. That’s not bad. Bryce Young hasn’t won a championship either as a starter. It’s not easy. I’m just happy we have a good football team.

Even if everything you’re saying is true, he’s still the best chance we have to win atm

And after bama it will be the OC fault, recs fault, OL fault....everyone but JD, if he doesn't play well. That description you made on that underthrown ball...lol
