JD passing during the game...

Everyone is talking about Nuss, but JD threw some pretty nice passes before he came out. It was clearly due to his running limitations forcing him to pass, but if he's able to combine his running with the passes he made during the SEC championship game, doesn't that give us the ability for a pretty great run next year? (cue the QB controversy for the next 9 months)

He wasn't terrible but his refusal to throw deep is an issue.
He also takes too long to committ making alot of the deep throws he makes late

JD won us some games we should not have won with his legs this year, but by golly seeing Nuss air it out like that yesterday was like an acid flashback to Joey B. 2019

yeah, he definitely has timing issues that need to be fixed. I remember a short throw early in the game that he didn't throw until the receiver turned around but should have been thrown while in route. These are the things that absolutely have to be fixed, or we need to look to someone else.

Mainly because he couldn’t win with his arm because he’s scared to throw it downfield

He refuses to keep defenses honest by attacking vertically.

Arkansas and Texas A&M have laid the blueprint on how to stop Daniels.
JD5 is going to have to prove that he can throw down the field and throw receivers open.

its not about ability, he cant make a decision, thats the problem.
unless guys are wide frickin open, JD holds the ball and waits for someone to be wide open, and thats never going to work if you want to be successful.
i cant see any way JD changes, its who he is, he cant make a quick decision and pull the trigger to throw the ball when a receiver is only 1 step ahead but open. JD needs them to be several steps open, like 5 yards apart, before he decides to throw it

And if he had wings he could fly to Kansas, Dorothy.

It's not an arm talent issue with Daniels, it's that the offense is making a concerted effort to not turn the ball over. It's a risk/reward thing to help a defense that has no depth. Plus, the OL issues early in the season forced LSU's hand to use Daniels' rushing ability a ton.
Daniels can make all the throws, it's just a matter of him
1. Letting the ball rip
2. Throwing with accuracy/timing

And that takes away from the win how exactly?

Both of our QBs threw it very well. Both had more yards passing in 1 half than what UGA was giving up for an entire game going into the game.

JD5 actually threw the ball deep routinely at Az. St. Thats why its so frustrating watching him this year. Its as if those 10 int's last year has him shell-shocked. He started off throwing some very nice passes and was picking UGA apart in the beginning. I don't think UGA expected those passes. However, there was a clear difference between him and Nuss. Just think about how Nuss broke the grasp of a defender, rolled out to his right, and threw a TD strike. JD5 for all his superior athleticism will never make that play. JD5 only runs once he pulls the ball down, never decides to look downfield for the pass. That is a MAJOR difference between him and most elite QB's. JD5 is a pretty good QB but he's conservative. That leaves plays to be made all over the field.

He did throw deep once. Had a guy open for a TD. There it a our 10 yards short.

this is JD's 4th year of starting QB. If he hasn't learned yet, what makes anyone think just another year and he will get it. He has half the arm of Nuss and probably Howard. Almost every pass over a 15 yd hitch is thrown late and short. We have caught some of those for TD's but we have to be able to do better. LSU has to stop treading water at QB and move on to better talent, even if there are learning curves to accept.

Play calling was totally by the time Nuss entered the game. Toward the end of the first half you could see the pass heavy offense becoming a must. JD5 did well then. His ankle just didn't allow him to continue.
