The good:

Great runner, good on quick routes (especially hitches), great pocket awareness, solid deep ball, has a lot of heart, gets even more accurate when it matters most and he’s desperate like for example when Kelly was roasting him in the 4th quarter and Jayden went into like a different mental zone.

The bad:

Overthinks anything in the middle of the field because he doesn’t trust himself to not throw a pick. We all saw the WRs running wide-open across the field more times than we’d like. However, the key is he’ll watch the film and see just how wide-open his receivers were. He’ll obviously improve.

Absolutely. That’s what I mean by being desperate. Obviously the most important quarter of the game.

So you have to call the game to “the good” and get his confidence up before you try any of the stuff “the bad” in areas he needs to improve

Absolutely. Not sure why denbrock doesn’t do more quick passes.

The good probably does outweigh the bad in total, but the bad is highly magnified because it minimizes our offenses’ biggest personnel strength. That can’t be overlooked.

The bad looks fixable.

Fair enough, but when he watches the film and sees that no one was close to those receivers, it’ll start doing something to his psyche like “wow ok that’s an easy fix. I can do that.” He’ll improve. Has great QB coaches around him too.

We actually ran several short passes last night. RBs out of the backfield, a couple of WR screens and to the TE in the flat. Unfortunately, several were less than accurate throws to Taylor and Goodwin and they aren’t good enough as receivers to help Daniels out there. Taylor also stood out of bounds for one throw and doesn’t know when to cut off a route in space playing a zone defense. He isn’t Bech. He’s a true freshman who plays like one.

Also, think back to last year. We ran tons of short routes because Max didn’t have a great deep ball. Defenses clamped down Nd sat on routes as games went on and choked our offense to death because we didn’t challenge them downfield and couldn’t run consistently.

Daniels’ running ability brings a different dimension that we didn’t have last season, but he HAS to start hitting on some deeper throws for the offense to work.

Some of the most crucial plays last night in the 4Q were short passes on 3rd downs. Really clutch throws and catches.

I also believe LSU needs now a qb who can run as our O line necessitates that.

Qb scrambles for first downs demoralize a defense.

He does need to anticipate the open guy and like it rip more. He can’t keep holding on to it.

I hope so, but the coaches are going to have to MAKE him force some where he isn’t comfortable, because he just isn’t seeing it fast enough. Just look at him in the pocket. The game is moving faster than he can process it. And that isn’t a knock on him personally. This is something that maybe 25-30% of college QBs are actually good at.

I think Daniels can improve his recognition, but I’m not sure how much he will be able to during the course of an SEC season. There’s not that much time to break down mistakes when you are constantly game-planning for the next opponent.

I agree. His athleticism adds something that at least allows this offense to move the ball and hurt a defense. They always have to account for his ability to run the ball.

As bad as Nuss looked, Daniels seems to be the only option outside of injury or Howard making a big leap toward the bye week. But we will never be a consistent offense unless he gets comfortable trusting his WRs to make some plays in traffic and downfield.

He's the best we could get on this year's team and he has flaws seeing the field/passing accurately downfield, but you continue to be one of the biggest morons on this board.

It’s not so adjust the offense to fit his talents and stop asking him to be a drop back passer 40-50 times a game.
