Makes sense... the strategy is to get as far in Hoover as possible and both guys would be needed for that.

Honestly, it would basically take the best performances of the season from Schmitt x 2, Evans, Paz, and Cowan to make it happen.

But the double-figure walks didn't?

I mean, given the circumstance, it is the right move to punt this weekend, as much as the competitor in him hates to do it, especially at home.

Trying to sweep Florida, then making a run in Hoover would still not guarantee a bid.

Winning Hoover would.

But it is still like trying to decide if you are going to spend your last $5 on a Powerball ticket or just a regular lottery ticket. The odds ain't good either way

If CJJ is thinking this team can run the table in Hoover, we have bigger issues at head coach than anyone thinks.

I don’t think that it’s so much that he thinks we can run the table it’s that at this point it’s the only lifeline we have left.

It’s like they say, he’s trying to fly the plane all the way into the crash.

I’ll give him credit for that much.

He said before the Florida series started that there is no other mathematical way for the team to get in than to win the tournament in Hoover

I agree.

But, I think I would have given Evans an inning or so last night. I think he needs it. And, I don't think it would have negatively impacted him for the tournament because he isn't going to for a long stretch anyway. Maybe we get him for 3-4 innings?

Oh well. It is what it is.

This actually makes me happy. Even though this team sucks, he has not given up on the outside possibility of making the tournament

FFS, those two things go hand in hand. It makes him sick because he knows what he has behind them.

Absolutely the right thing to do. We're scoring runs, if we can only find some pitching....

Huh? It’s easily the best strategy with where we are at. It’s not about what he thinks it’s about doing what’s best. This is a retarded post.

That’s a dumb statement.

This is a dumb and intellectually dishonest comment. I see some comments have pointed it out to you, but the fact you have like a 27-3 upvote to downvote ratio on this just shows how stupid some posters here are.

Of course the walks and not throwing Evans or Schmidt is related. But Jay is really saying is that because he knows wining the SECT is our only chance to make a regional, he’s not gonna go all in on winning these games against Florida. He’s punting, and that goes against everything he is as a coach. He coaches his arse off in midweek games up until the final out. It’s why a lot of those games are 3 1/2 hours +. He’s gonna make as many pitching changes to get the matchups he wants against McNeese on a Tuesday in February as a Friday night SEC game.

But beyond that, what benefit could come from Jay saying “the 10 walks tonight made me sick to my stomach?” There’s none. He’s trying to build confidence in some guys we’re going to need to miraculously win the SECT. So many of you tards are obsessed with getting your pound of flesh vicariously through the coach throwing his guys under the bus, that it says something, not just about you as a “fan,” but a person. And how you have zero idea how difficult it is to manage a team full of 18-22 year olds.

No shite, dude. I am glad you spent 10 minutes typing several paragraphs explaining the joke that the rest of the posters got. We all understand why Jay is doing what he is doing.

The "but the double figure walks didn't" comment was very tongue in cheek. Sorry you didn't catch it the first time.

lol. My apologies. This season has been hard for a lot of us to navigate. Sometimes I see things that aren’t there and react. Again, apologies.
