Because we had Addai, S. Carey, Justin Vincent, Alley Brousard, Barrington Edwards and Jacob Hester.

Also, a lot of people didn't recruit him as I think only Southern and Indiana recruited him.

lsu did offer him. he just didn't go because there were 5 or more other good rb's. at texas a&m he said that they were biased as hell toward texas players so he left there and went to slu. then he signed with a CFL team, but i don't think he made it too long in there.

well don't believe me, but i know him and talked to him about it. That's just what he told me about texas a&m, but i do know for sure that he was offered by LSU. Also, he wasn't that fast or elusive so i can see him not making it in the CFL. i'm not saying he was awesome or anything. Just telling you what i know and what he told me.

He was very productive at SLU, and he made alot of big plays. He got a little overweight and had a chance at the CFL. The CFL is the real deal alot of guys don't make it there. He was talented, just didn't work out in the CFL.

Judging by your topic being extremely outdated and the way that last comment seemed to bear with it some personal or emotional attachment to jay Lucas, I can only deduce that you either are or were in a relationship with jay Lucas. Just roll over, tell him he's better than alley broussard, and go back to sleep.

Coach Saban offered Jay on signing day of his Junior year.

Jay waited until the end of the recruiting process to commit and LSU no longer had room for another RB.

Jay went to A&M and shortly after they went to a 1-back system. He didn't fit their new system as well as other guys and so he went to SLU.

He was the conference player of the year while at SLU, which means he was a very good football player. And a great one for the Southland Conference.

Jay was one of the best football players I have ever coached. He was also one of the best individuals I have ever coached. He led our team to back-to-back state championships and was the most humble player we had.

In his junior year he rushed for over 1,000 yards. That's a good accomplishment for any RB in a season. It's even greater considered we gave equal carries to another RB. It's even more amazing that he actually ran for those 1,000 yards IN THE PLAY-OFFS ALONE!

Not many RB's can say they "ran wild" on John Curtis in the Superdome.

A great player and a great guy!

Lucas was good only because of his fullback

That decision bit him in the arse. Hope he felt the love.

Has he come out of the closet yet? The fullback, not Lucas.

Jay could flat out play. He didnt sign with LSU and Hester did. He could have had that same type of role. He was great reciever out of the back field

Yea, I remember that myself. I used to go to RHS games back then. I went to the state title game against Patterson and then the one against JC. Saban, did offer Lucas, but he kept waiting and waiting and eventually the scholarship was taken off the table. I think that that was a huge mistake on his part.
