Not a crazy take at all. We’re not finding 2 Fri-Sat starters out of nowhere, and not finding a Tanks or Bear. What part of anything you’ve seen makes you think we’ll be any better or even the same next year?

Hurd? Are you joking? The supposed Friday night stud who has been awful except in the CWS last year and Sunday? We got one year out of skenes, not that it wasn’t a great year, but those guys aren’t in the portal every year. We need 5-10 top transfers between batters and pitchers to be good next year. I don’t see where that’s coming from unless a ton of top guys enter the portal

if Holeman and Jump go early that pulls aces.

Have you seen the roster for next season? Jays got a lot of work ahead of him.
He does, but some of our current lineup leaving isn't necessarily a bad thing.

we did that this season and found a 1 of 1 pitcher the year before.
We also found Tommy in the portal.
it will be hard to replace guys, but not impossible.
Also I think people
forget how good Shores was. I am happy he didn’t rush back. I think he will be really special next year.

Shores, Herring and Anderson
+
~2 starting pitcher quality portal arms (going to be plenty out there to choose from)
+
And some high upside other guys like Johnson and Moffett out there waiting already on the roster.
Then our core freshmen non-pitchers with Milam, Larson, and Brown are as solid of a trio as you'll get at the plate. We have talent and a talented recruiting class. We will fill in gaps in the portal.
Can't wait to bump this thread next year

I think Herring is back. the potential to increase his draft stock and make way more
money is worth the risk but i won’t count my chickens until they hatch.
Cam Johnson’s issues reminded me of Moffetts issues last year. way to much going on in the deliver was hurting his accuracy. Moffett was unplayable last year and thisnuear he came in and has some quality innings.
They took out his goofy leg kick and the control was there.
I think that’s the plan for Cam Johnson who I also think is farther along than Moffett was last year.
also i’d Moffett can make
another step forward he will be a great leverage guy.

I’m as calm as I can be after a choke job like last night. Doesn’t change that we will need a bunch of good transfers to be any better than this year

Yea I like the core being Milam, Larson and Brown.
Then Neal when healthy is a good player, he just gets hurt too much. If we can get Braswell back which I think is doable, keep Jones which is probably less doable but still doable, we have a good base then we just need 3rd and another catcher. Outfield we need Kling Frey or a big transfer.
I like the pitching depth assuming Herring is back which he feels like a good college pitcher but probably not a pro yet.
Get a experienced 3b and a big transfer outfielder and maybe a few pitchers and we are just fine

Last nights loss isn’t nearly as bad as losing on the road at Usm in year 1 after being in the drivers seat.
This was at a legit top teams house and through the losers bracket.
We saw how losing Crews, Jobert, Dugas and Cade hurt us in 1 run games this year. The team had to grow up and it couldn’t close the door on good teams or even bad teams.
We will be just fine though Jay is recruiting well and we have more time in the portal this year.

Name another baseball program that’s had the portal impact LSU has? Tennessee a little, A&M paid Montgomery a lot of money, Florida and Wake have snagged some high profile pitchers. But nobody has had the influx of portal talent LSU has gotten when Lipsey decided to cut checks from the gun store account
Arkansas had 15 players that started/played 10 or more games… out of those 15 players, 10 of them were transfers…
