I hear a lot of big time names being thrown around for the search. Names that would require basically deals like we saw Jimbo get. At this point, I think an up and coming coach who knows at least one side of the ball at a minor school would have better odds of fixing this team. Toledo has a history or great head coaches.
Jason Candle seems to be a coach who is young and offensive minded and understands football. I think if he came to LSU he would work hard to prove himself and put in the time required. With a huge name, you never know who is going to just rest on their laurels and who will actually do a good job. The idea of us being in a Jimbo situation here is scary. A Jason Candle type hire would be safer money wise and have huge potential for a long time great hire. Of course it has downsides but nothing is a sure thing.

So Scott Woodward, who hired a 3-time championship winner to coach women's basketball and a guy who just went to the CWS to coach baseball, is going to hire a coach from Toledo to run the most lucrative part of the athletic department? ??

Previous Head Coaches:
Nick Saban
Gary Pinkel
Tim Beckman
Matt Campbell
Jason Candle
Point to a better program that has identified great coaching than Toledo.

Doesn’t hold a Candle to others on the list.

I really like Matt Campbell. He's been a HC twice, has experience as an OC and OL coach and his teams always seem to be able to challenge the more talented big programs. That means he either can scheme very well or motivate his players to get the best out of the talent he has.
At Iowa St he's had 8+ wins in 3/5 seasons. Prior to him arriving Iowa St hadn't won 8 games in the previous 15 seasons.
