I would think he'd be gone, but an earlier poster said he comes from good stock, and folks that value education, so you never know.

I don't know about y'all (and don't get me wrong, I freakin LOVE OBJr), but from what I saw, Landry is a much better pro prospect, not that I'm a scout or anything.

For the life of me, I can't figure out why OBJr "out performed" Landry in terms of post season honors to the degree he did.

Man, last year, whenever we got into a clutch play situation, like 3rd and long, I'd just keep my eyes on him.

LOL, the Arky D backs did that too.

Beckham returns kicks and punts, and was among the nation's leaders in all purpose yardage. so he made SEC and AA teams as an all purpose player. it's not that difficult.

Odell had some clutch 3rd and 4th down catches too. they were a really prolific receiving duo.

You are right Odell made SOME catches, Landry caught ALL of the passes. If its 3rd down and 10 yds, which receiver will the defense be keying on? The correct answer is the JUICE Landry.

Odell had the 3rd and 22 reception vs. UGA that had we won would have gone down as one of the most important catches of the season

Odell also caught the 4th down pass vs. Ole Miss in the 4th qtr on the game tying drive.

if I had to convert a 3rd or 4th down, given the choice I'm throwing to Juice. but it seems like there's a need amongst some in our fanbase to downplay ODB's contributions in order to boost Juice's profile. there's no need for all that.

Not sure what the argument is....there both equally gifted receivers and have contributed in big ways all season...albeit not necessarily in the same games.

these boys wanted to get theirs when they came here together.

i wouldn't be surprised to see them all in p&g next year.

LSU is at its best with a strong south-louisiana dominated jr and sr class

Not sure what difference it makes if it's a strong South LA or strong North LA senior group - statements like these are what drives players from N. LA to consider options outside of LSU.

I very much doubt comments like those have any effect at all on where N. LA residents decide to go to college. How silly.

your a looser.

seriously, why do people say this? "Stupid" for him to stay? Really?

Do you know the career expectancy of the NFL?
Do you know what his financial situation is?
Do you know what he may want to do career-wise, besides football, that may lend itself to his goal to get a degree now?
Do you know how much he values his college years (for many, the 'best years of my life')?
Do you know how much he may value getting another RING before leaving?
Why would you claim to know what is stupid or not for Landry or anyone else on a decision like this?

It's very short, which is why it's pretty important to get in and start making money as early as you can, especially when you're healthy and your stock isn't likely to go up, but can definitely go down if you get seriously injured.

Whatever it is, it will almost assuredly be better making NFL money.

quote:

What could he possibly want to do that requires he get a degree RIGHT NOW, and then try to go the NFL later, versus try the NFL and then return in a few years to finish his degree if it doesn't work out?

quote:

Do you know how much he values his college years (for many, the 'best years of my life')?

No, but based on the number of guys that DON'T elect to return when they have a shot at getting drafted I can guess. Your college years may have been the best of your life because afterwards you had to get a real job and support yourself and be responsible. Going to the NFL to play a game you love for a lot of money without having to deal with the pretense of keeping up with academics probably changes that calculation quite a bit.
quote:

No one knows this, but given where LSU is going to end the season ranked he probably doesn't have visions of championships dancing in his eyes.
quote:

I don't know if it's stupid, but it would sure be a bad decision if he really wants to have a professional football career.
