I get where people are saying he won't gain anything. But he could go down as one of the best Tigers ever and graduate.
That would be important to me, although I would probably leave.

I keep seeing this in regards to Landry and Beckham, but I just don't see it. I mean don't get me wrong, these guys are damn good, but it's not like it would be unprecedented for a good WR to stay for a senior year. If they go they are almost certain to be the lowest and second lowest drafted LSU early declarents ever at the WR position.
taken in the top 3 rounds? at least one of them probably sneaks into the first.

This is the case when you assume everyone is 100% motivated by money.
Actually, even if you are motivated solely by money, leaving early is not always a good idea. The big money is the second contract and the way to get a second deal is to perform well in your first. The NFL is often unfair and players drafted later just don't get a full shot to make the lineup, or even the team. Getting drafted in the 3rd round or later makes it that much more likely you never get the next deal.
This rash of leaving early automatically means more money is just misguided thinking. I know we love Jarvis, but he wasn't even 1st team All-SEC yet we think he's gonna be a 1st round pick? Ask Sam Montgomery or Tharold Simon if leaving early makes economic sense.

Possibly, but mid-to-late second or later would still make them worse off than any of the others who have declared early. Neither is a better pro prospect than Josh Reed, Michael Clayton or Reuban Randle, who are the three that have left, and I would argue that Lafell and Bowe were better NFL prospects and they both came back.
I'm not saying they would be stupid to leave or anything, especially with their QB graduating. I'm just saying that historically, WRs of their caliber at LSU have been more likely to stay than go.
Maybe I'm dumb and last year we reached a turning point and from here on out we should just expect the bar to get lower and lower. But I'm old enough to remember back in 2011 when guys projected in the third round or worse weren't considered obviously gone. (This is more directed at some other guys than Beckham and Landry, as I do expect those two to have successful NFL careers whether those careers start in 2014 or 2015)

I love this guys attitude as well as his unquestioned dedication and unparalleled talent.
Best receiver I have ever seen at LSU.

Blows my mind that he left early.

That's not a very logical point in my book. He could also leave and get hurt before he even touches a NFL Football Field and never gets any money. He could also come back to LSU and get hurt but he'll have his degree to fall back on if so. That's how I see it. Not wishing any bad luck on JL just being real!

It ALL has to do with priorities.
98% of football players are after the money. This isn't an indictment, as there is absolutely nothing wrong with earning a living. But a few have other goals. Some would say higher goals. A degree is one example, a national championship is another.
People speculate on the draft stock aspect of the issue but I think a player staying almost always has more to do with other goals and mindset. Some aren't afraid of getting hurt and missing out on a pro career.

He seems like the kind of guy that would remember the bitterness of ending an awesome freshman year with 1/9 and 21-0 and want to come back to make that right.

What a retarded comment. What if he wanted to come back for personal reasons?

If he were to come back the University and football program will be much benefited. And I sure hope he comes back. I would much more rather have him than the "troubled athlete" in JC any day. J.L. is a fine human being and the most dependable receiver I've ever seen at LSU. He brings all the good qualities that I would hope any representative of our school should have. He could make the difference between a good year vs. a run for the West. He would be the glue of the offense! jmho

U guy's are wining about our inexperience QB next year. U will be surprised after about 3 games under his belt. He is the real deal!

Well to be fair there are a lot of kids that come from single mother homes and poverty and THAT money guides their thinking... When you have nothing and those BIG $$$$$ are staring at yo... education is an afterthought. I don't think this is the case for JL... I can see him coming back......

I would love it if he came back. However its not likely and with how short the career is of today's NFL player I wouldn't blame him for leaving
