Lucky for LSU that the “Pick 6 Kid” Jarrett Lee had the intestinal fortitude to take on “ALL” the criticism from his coaches, team mates and let’s not forget (how could we ever forget) all of arm chair quarterbacks here on the Rant and elsewhere. It would have been very easy to cash in the chips here at LSU when so many were down on him. But, Jarrett Lee has proved his “Mettle”. Unlike most who would have called it quits and moved on, he chose to stay and do the things necessary to make him a better player and over all a better person. He engaged adversity in the form of extreme scrutiny head on, from his coaches and LSU’s famous fan base. He refused to quit when many were praying for him to do so. Remember when got hurt and the “Fans” cheered? Jarrett Lee is class act on and off of the field, which is more than I can say for the majority of the Rant contributors. LSU is Lucky to still have him around.

mettle

courage, fortitude, character

YES, he has.

It helps that JJ sulks when JJ is not on the field, & we get to see the difference in team spirit when JL comes on the field.

and yes, I was hoping he would transfer to McNeese after 2008.

Now here's a thought: If J Lee were QB yesterday, for the McNeese Cowboys, and JJ had to play all game for the LSU Tigers, which team would you have money on?

The team seems to support JL , because he really seems to be a sincere team guy and un-selfish.He is human and will make mistakes, but when he does we need to back him 110%. He has pulled our butts out of tight spots more than a few times this season

This is a class kid, and with my handy crytsal ball, I am seeing a great future as a human being. I would say he is a character-driven person. I admire him greatly.

Damn good question. In reality though, Garrett or another backup would probably be in the mix with JJ. But who knows.

Well said. I met Jarrett a couple of years ago on a Sunday after the Miss. State game in Baton Rouge. We were eating at IHOP and he was there eating with his parents and grandparents. Many fans were going up to the table and congratulating him. He and his family were very gracious and patient with the attention. I knew the kid would redeem himself eventually and this looks like the perfect time and place to be given a shot.

It's awesome watching him firing up the crowd. Definitely has the mental capability for the SEC and fans.

I've given up being a critic of JJ and JL. Our problem is that neither one is to be confused with three or four of the better QB's in the SEC.

Yes, I'm really happy to see JL take charge and I'm really sad to see the fans pile on JJ as he continues to struggle.

Just wait until JL blows up in a game and throws a couple of critical interceptions or fumbles. The pack will circle him like they are JJ.

I just hope our D continues to play well. Finally we have a test, our first test, in playing a REAL team. The game with Auburn will show us what kind of Tigers we have this year.

Particularly, our defense. Newton is going to really present some problems if we can't tackle one on one.Newton has been unbelieveable running the football.Doesn't seem like one man can bring him down.Stopping Newton's running will be key to beating Auburn.

Okay, good catch. But it isn't as good as the

that are about halfway down the page!

Oh well. No sense being a grammar-Nazi here. Just sit back and enjoy the fun of it, and be glad that "in despite" of all the messed up cliches and poor spellings, the message still gets through. We'll consider such things to be a "busted play" that still scores in the words-game!
