Jarret Lee is an example of perseverance. Anyone who has competed athletically knows that successes can only be achieved by learning from failures. Give me a Jarret Lee over a Jamarcus Russell any day of the week. No where close to JR's athleticism but his character and courage more than makes up for it.

You have 2 camps when talking about JL.
Those who choose to focus on the past.
Those who choose to focus on the future.
JL has matured and grown since 2008 and to believe he'll have same results as he did as a redshirt fresh shows how stupid some people are.
Bad part about it is, ones doing bashing have no clue how stupid they appear by exp of what they type.
Its funny and sad and that same time.
I find myself at times wanting JL to play and do well for no other reason than to make half people on this board be exposed for the morons they truly are.
I hope it happens this year, itll be fun to watch people crawfish.
Not to mention after the abuse this dude has taken from a portion of our fan base, kid deserves it.

I watched Matt Flynn last night and was excited for him. How many of you trashed him at LSU when Jamarcus started ahead of him. Then he fought through it and is in the NFL doing well. I believe Jarrett will also make it to the NFL. Oh, by the way, where is Jamarcus?

Actually he set the CAREER record for pick 6's in a SINGLE season.
The career record is 19, by some guy whose name I have no frickin clue how to spell; Spifzorhagen (or something similar)

After all the crap that said back in 08, it would have been easy to transfer to a div aa school and play under less pressure. But he stuck with it like a man and learned from his mistakes.

We all know he had 17 INT's in two years, and set a record for most Pick 6's in a season. What made it so bizarre for me was that in High School Jr & Sr years, he threw 71 TD's and just 8 INT's. Obviously, I know HS isn't SEC caliber, but that stark contrast in decision-making has hinted that this guy is just not getting it after basically 3 years in the system.
But I love watching Jarrett throw. Even his picks can look beautiful. I have always said his throwing motion is just like Dan Marino's quick release. As bad as that fist half was against Troy, some of the throws in that comeback in the 2nd half were All-Pro NFL level. Same thing in that Bama loss at home. That first half TD was one of the prettier passes I have seen from an LSU QB ever. But bottom line, we don't lose to Bama if he doesn't throw that pick 6.
I appreciate his loyalty, and his good disposition even in the face of harsh criticism from internet tough guys like me. I actually believe that he has the tools to be a great QB should he ever put it together. And my fingers are crossed for this Tiger.
Excellent post!

I agree.
If Lee and Jefferson both "got it together" I think Lee would be the better QB, IMO obviously.
I just don't know about either at this point, none of us really do.

JL has got to have a ton of grit in his gut, because I probably would have packed my bags after a few of those games he had in 2008 & 2009.

i was very critical of lee's performance in the past but i am impressed with his character... i would love to see him make a comeback!

Dude, JL has more testicular fortitude than someone like you could ever understand. The dude has been through the ringer the last couple years and has taken it like a champ. It's obvious there's something about Baton Rouge and LSU that he loves and there's nothing wrong with us LSU fans showing some appreciation for that. Get a life and get your immature shite off this board
You hit that one dead nuts on !

No offense to Lee, but the amount of discussion he gets from this board is absurd.
People want to constantly harp on any criticism of Lee whatsoever, but ignore the backhanded insults given to our actual starting QB by the sheer number of "Lee should start" threads:

It really is ridiculous.
Jefferson has outplayed Lee in every facet of the game except sacks taken, yet Lee appears to have the support of a large section of the fanbase.
And, FWIW, this isn't a "bash Lee" post. It's a "bash bad fans" post.

Nice post!!
In 2008 if I remember correctly, JL was sick while running the 2 min. offence, something like 6 out of 7 for a score. Hope he has more chances,
I think LSU is blest to have two experanced Jr. QB's.

If Jefferson, McCartney, Bailey, Ware, and Sheppard go down with injury, I hope Lee will be able to show that he has grown as a quarterback.
