Literally one of the best posts I've ever seen. You should be a professional columnist. That is my dream to be a columnist or beat writer, and I never really thought of the situation in that regard and even if I did, I couldn't have put it so eloquently. Bravo.
quote:Absolutely. If I ever meet Jarrett, I will give him a firm handshake, look him in the eye, and tell him I proud I am of him. He is an ambassador for the university by being not being outspoken about his feelings and always deflected his success from the beginning of the year to the program.
Jarrett Lee is the hero without having to take a snap.

I don't post often, I'm mostly a lurker... However this post is so on the money that I have to say something...
It is amazing that Miles misunderstood the dynamics of the QB situation. It's even more amazing that it look this long before it blew up in his face. In the November 5th game, Jarret Lee played a horrid quarter of football against the Crimson Tide and was pulled...
Jordan Jefferson played a horrid half of football January 9th against the Crimson Tide and was not... The problem is consistentcy. When you are the leader of a team, consistentcy is one of the most important traits that one can have to maintain buy in from that team...
Miles' refusal to be consistent in his dealings at it related to QB playing time (based on performance) has caused him bigger issues than just losing this game, he slowly lost the belief of his team in his decision making everytime Jefferson returned to the field in the 2nd half...
Would have inserting Lee into the game have changed the outcome? Probaly not, however why leave that type of doubt? The problem is that we and his team will never know what would happened, because Miles wasn't consistent.
Thoughts?

quote:I agree with everything except the consistency part. Les stayed consistent. He's loves him some JJ by pardoning Jordan for bad play and the Shady's incident and not pardoning JL for a bad quarter against Bama (after having been arguably the team's offensive MVP through the first 8 games).

Lee will be forever loved by many fans, for his mature behavior,
You don't know Jarrett. This is not close to his top priority. He wanted to play. He wanted to try to win. He wanted to show the Pros he should at least get a look (not that he would, but he wanted his shot).

Les has given Lee hero status forever and JJ will be forever the goat and will be remembered by most with disdain. Twenty years from now fans will shudder when his name is mentioned.
Les hurt JJ's stature with the LSU fans and raised Lee to a mythical stature.
Funny how things turn out. Karma is a Biothce.

Awesome. Yes Les went with the QB with the better feet. He rushed for what, 15 yards on 14 carries, so want to know where the rushing attack went?
Down the tubes with JJ holding the ball too much and hogging the ball when he had no clue what to do.

Awesome post, Bro!
Les Miles needs to explain and apologizes for not giving Lee a shot, and for the offensive meltdown.
This isn't over until Les Miles "sings"!
Les is ultimately responsible. He needs to stand up and publicly apologize to everyone who has ever lived in the State of Louisiana.

I totally agree and know that Lee will go on to have a productive fulfilling life in whatever he does.
To the poster who posted "You win as a team and you lose as a team. As a TEAM."
Lee always showed respect to his teammates he never belittled or bashed any of them and he always truly gave credit to the team. On the other hand Jefferson may have said team in his statements but there was always the strong "I" within those statements as well. Everything has always been about him and Monday night was no exception. We are lucky that his fellow teammates did not give up on him when he gave up on them.

Not knowing JLee personally, I would tend to agree with this statement also. I am sure JL would have traded this legendary status for just a chance to help his team.
