Does anyone have any idea why he hasn't played? Everyone seemed to be hyping him up as a breakout player before the season. It wasn't just media, coaches and players mentioned him multiple times for work ethic, adding weight, dominating in practices/scrimmages.

Apparently Spring/Fall camp unicorns still exist. Seems we get that report from this one breakout player that we never get to see during the season every year.

maybe he starts getting on the field a bit with Justin Thomas gone? They're similar players I believe. Cherry put on like 50 pounds of straight muscle in the past year by carrying bricks in his booksack. He'll get his time if he keeps that up

Travez Moore is the one I thought would have contributed more by now

Don't know if Cherry falls in this category, but some guys are just great physical specimens/athletes, but aren't great "football players". That is, they don't have a great understanding of the game outside of the very basics and they have no real football instincts.

Ultimately coaches are going to play the guys they trust will consistently do what they are supposed to do. If there is a serious need for depth and a guy STILL isn't playing, there is a reason.

He hasn’t played as much since Rashard and Logan have come back but spells them a bunch. He will likely be a starter next year

I was thinking this same thing yesterday and watched some HS highlights when he was 225 lbs. The guy looks the part and his film was good. I’m still perplexed why he has not seen the field.?? He was also an early enrollee so he has been in the program for almost 2 full years.

His hype came more from carrying bricks around and gaining 40+ pounds than it did from what he was doing in practices. He's learning a new position now basically.

My guess is that due to his unexpected significant weight gain (good muscle weight) they are likely trying to build on that and make him a D-lineman rather than outside rush LB/DE. Would be fantastic in pass rush packages at 275-280 lbs lined up on one side of the NG.

if he put on 50lbs of lean mass in a year, it was more than bricks in his booksack... nobody puts on 50lbs in a year without "chemical help"
